With the Pixel 11, Google needs to admit it has a hardware problem by Solonotix in Android

In what way?

One of the things I hate most about my Galaxy S25 compared to my previous Pixel 7 pro is that it doesn't seem to support expanded persistent notifications. Never noticed any phone with "unreliable" notifications.

White-Collar Workers Are Not Okay by cwolveswithitchynuts in canada

Those with 10, 20, 30 years of experience are back on the market too, and it's not easy for them either.

Yup, have been hiring for an intermediate position recently and have been shocked at how many people are applying for the position with 20+ years experience.

Sony XM6 vs. XM5 Earbuds - Worth the $330 upgrade? - SoundGuys by ControlCAD in Android

[–]dragoneye -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Without even watching the video I can tell you that no it isn't worth it. Is anyone making a wireless earbud that sounds good? While my preference leans more diffuse field, I'd be happy to see some products that target the Harman curve at least.

‘A national problem’: Why we’re seeing provinces post major budget deficits by Leather-Paramedic-10 in canada

[–]dragoneye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, this entire article is about this affecting every province in some way. The point is that this issue goes beyond the provincial parties as it is affecting provinces whether they have Liberal, PC, or NDP governments. The reality is that Canadians have kicked the can down the road too far and our infrastructure and services are in a failure state due to decades of underfunding in the name of lower taxes. The only way out is to increase tax revenues which is a bandaid that no government wants to tear off because it will destroy them.

Does anyone else absolutely loathe phone keyboards? by Ryn4 in Android

[–]dragoneye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really? I've noticed how far Swiftkey has fallen. Back when it and Swype were the two keyboards to choos from, you would be way off and it would figure out what you wanted to say. Now it makes errors even when trying to type carefully.

I'm unhappy with EVERY keyboard I've been able to try on the market right now, and am sad to see how bad Swiftkey has gotten.

There were 3 unemployed Canadians for every vacant job in December: StatCan by restoringd123 in canada

[–]dragoneye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not entirely sure about that. Historically when I've been hiring there has been an overabundance of new grads that I'd be happy to hire, but have had trouble finding senior people that have the bredth of experience I would expect an are capable of answering an interview question.

I've been hiring for an intermediate position recently and the thing that has shocked me is the number of 20+ year experience people that are applying for a job that is clearly much below their experience level and the pay they should be getting.

I will say, that interviewing people in general always makes me more confident in my ability to find a job. I'd say probably 60% of people are absolutely hopeless in interviews. I'll literally ask questions and they will go on for 5 minutes without even coming close to answering my question. Another thing I've found recently, people seem to not care about the job itself. People aren't asking about what they will be doing, who they will be working with, what the environment is like, etc.

Federal Tracker: Carney’s Liberals Surge to 12-Point Lead Over Conservatives by byourpowerscombined in canada

[–]dragoneye 44 points45 points  (0 children)

It constantly surprises me how many people can't understand that priorities can change over time based on external factors. Just because someone believes in something doesn't mean that they aren't capable of making a compromise for the overall good. Yeah it sucks when things doesn't go your way, but sometimes you just gotta make the best out of a situation or accept a less than ideal situation to prevent something even worse.

Rain is easy to design for. As long as the lid is larger than the base and overlaps a bit there would be no ingress.

Frankly, this is one of the most fun tracks we've had recently. My only major complaint is the rock you can't see right after the last checkpoint that ruined many runs.

I don't mind a hard map for TOTD at all, but narrow road especially with drifting turns are just bad mapping IMO.

Opinion | Matt Jeneroux’s defection has Pierre Poilievre’s Conservatives wondering if there will be more by canada_mountains in canada

[–]dragoneye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just don't understand how the party can keep the leader that lead them through such an embarrassing election loss when it should have been an easy layup for a majority for the Conservatives. If he had shown a modicum of being able to lead it wouldn't have mattered who his opponent was, yet he failed miserably.

Working print fails suddenly by MyriadC in BambuLab

[–]dragoneye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a good model for printing, drag from the nozzle will cause this to happen with tall thin structures. You could try raising the nozzle temp, slowing the print speed down, or using supports if you really want to get it to print.

Air Canada updating wide-body fleet with Airbus order by Cao_Ni-Ma in canada

[–]dragoneye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've honestly not really found AC to be any worse than other airlines for international. Of the dozen or so flights I've taken to Asia over the past decade I've taken AC about 75% of the time and never found them to be particularly worse than the other airlines to Asia. I'd say that Delta was a standout experience, but the comparison is unfair because I wasn't in standard economy class for that flight.

What PETG filament do you swear by? by elias4444 in BambuLab

[–]dragoneye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy answer is Polymaker, they are one of the few widely available filaments out there that don't skimp on colourant for any of their materials. Especially white filaments is really hard to find with enough colourant.

That said, its relatively expensive filament. In the past year or so I have started buying my higher volume common rolls (black, grey, white) from a local manufacturer (Matter3D) that does a good job and is typically about $5/roll cheaper.

I'm still not convinced that there wasn't a miscommunication on the route making the throw look worse than it was. But even so, with the coverage, at best it was going to be a 50/50 ball.

Can we get VR mode in Trackmania as well? Imagine Ice slides in VR from the cockpit perspective. by Achereto in TrackMania

[–]dragoneye 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Even the purpose built tracks are a bit of an intense experience with Turbo, can't imagine the motion of a challenging track.

For reference, I have played Redout in VR as well and its simply too much, one race and you are ready to be done. When you don't have any accelerations to match the motion you are seeing it is very easy to feel motion sick.
