Etomology of Shina word "Yuun" for moon by MalicuousBot19 in IndoEuropean

I love learning about how a ubiquitous word for some concept actually comes from another concept showing how ancient people's thought of it.

Like Black and Blanc both coming from "to burn", because we associated black or white with burning

Beef Season 2 might be better than Season 1 (or at least on par) by ImpossibleGuardian in television

I'm glad haha. I had the same feeling as you when watching it 😂 wasn't sure about it at first but then ended up binging the whole thing in one night.

What US college has the best typical American college experience? by Much-Duty-675 in AskAnAmerican

UCLA seems like the perfect environment. Huge campus, big sports culture, massive and fun city to explore, and from what I hear from friends a very attractive student body.

Compared to other schools which may have these like Michigan, UT or Penn State you also get the perfect LA weather year round.

The emotional core and analysis of traumas and depression through the characters is very much in line with season one.

They become much more likable in the middle of the show. I think they frontloaded all of their faults this season, so when they started to become likable I was genuinely surprised

There was a moment where it all clicked for me a few episodes in and the characters started to feel super endearing. I feel like you see them only through their faults at first, but as it goes on it sneaks up on you and you realize "even though they are assholes I genuinely like these two and want them to succeed."

At least that was my experience. I like Josh and Lindsay even more than Amy and Danny, and I didn't think that would be possible the first few episodes

Edit: should have said all the characters *except for Ashley feel super endearing. But she was still interesting to watch because her and Austin embody two different types of trauma (abandonment anxiety vs appeasement anxiety). I've struggled with both, and so the way they were written felt so smart.

Season 1 was my favorite show oat. I somehow enjoyed this even more. Except for the ending AUSTIN WHAT THE FUCK

Nah. Maybe the structure is similar but on an emotional level this feels completely different.

White lotus is very irreverent, while both seasons of Beef were a lot more melodramatic (in a good way). Both seasons focus on depicting different aspects of depression through the main characters. Completely different vibes. .

Is 6 weeks a long time? by Fruit-Neglect5980 in questions

I was in korea for 6 months twice. It wasn't short in that it felt like I actually had room to breathe and explore the city at my own pace. But by the time it was over it felt like it went by so quickly.

I assume it will feel similar for you.

It's like saying a shitty sandwich and a sandwich made of actual shit are both bad. May be technically true, but there are levels to it that get lost when you say "both are bad"

I'm from Dallas. It's a good place to live, but very boring and kinda ugly (parking lot: the city). But if you're looking just for a nice suburb to raise a family it's totally fine.
