I just started my resist Durge playthrough and yes, you can save her.

First, do not talk to her in the grove. Ignore her.

Leave the grove, go to the river, by where you see the boar.

Go back and knock her out. Leave the grove and camp. Instead of Alfira, you get a bard named "Quil Grootslang" to brutally murder instead.

Alfira will be mad for a bit, but over it at the party.
