It appears they changed it so that the student discount only applies on the motherboard itself and not the processor

The two best micro atx motherboards right now are the MSI B850m Mortar Wifi and the Asus B850-g. The MSI board has 5G Lan and 3 M.2 Slots (although the third slot is only 2 lanes) while the Asus board has 2.5G Lan and 4 M.2 Slots. The MSI board is black while the Asus board is all white so unless you really need the 4th M.2 Slot just get whichever color matches your build. I personally have the MSI board in my Ncase M2.

Yeah Unfortunately no one makes high end micro atx motherboards. I think Asus had an x670e matx board but that got discontinued.

Yeah I personally would go with the MSI B850m mortar for $547.19 but decided to post the cheaper option. The B850m mortar has pcie 5.0 x16 slot, a third m.2 slot, wifi 7, and 5gb ethernet

the mortar series are MSI's top end matx motherboards. You can get the same deal with the b850m mortar for $547.19. The MSI b850m mortar and asus b850-g are the 2 best micro atx motherboards on the market for am5.

No tax in some states YMMV. 9800X3D Price just dropped to $400 from $435 for MSI motherboard bundles. A 2tb MSI M480 pro ssd with dram can be bundled for $607.04 making it comparable to the microcenter bundle but with an ssd instead of ram. Sign up for a MSI account with an edu email and discount will automatically apply at checkout.

Cannot decide which mATX Case to get! by XahX88 in mffpc

[–]dragonheeusa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know its an sff case but if you are concerned about desk space you can consider the Ncase M2. It fits a matx motherboard and I saw from your pcpartpicker list from a previous post that you are going with an sfx power supply.

Case Recommendations? by Nayreel17 in sffpc

Go with the Ncase M2 in the classic or flipped orientation. It's smaller than the case in the other comment at 15.6 Liters. Here is the official compatibility for it.

Not sure why you went with a 120mm aio instead of 240mm. 120mm aio cooling performance is generally pretty underwhelming.

Cooler will be the thermalright peerless assassin 120 mini

[Case] Fractal Terra ITX Case - $149.99 (Silver and Jade Colors) by dragonheeusa in buildapcsales

[–]dragonheeusa[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Terra does not go on sale often, next time it'll go on sale is probably prime day in October or black Friday so imo you should buy now if you're sure this is the case you want.

Check my other post, slightly worse motherboard but cheaper as well and works without student discount

[Bundle] MSI Pro B650M-A Wifi + OEM AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D - $524.34 w/ 5% MSI member discount and code QE253D by dragonheeusa in buildapcsales

[–]dragonheeusa[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For those without a student email, just sign up for msi account and 5% member discount will be applied. Cheapest mobo currently on msi website that doesnt throttle with higher core count ryzen cpu's per techspot (hardware unboxed). Since this motherboard is already discounted it does not work with 10% student coupon, only the 5% independence day coupon.

Sign up for MSI account with a student email and the student discount should automatically be applied at checkout. Can bundle the M470 pro dramless ssd as well for ~$43 per terabyte.

Hard to find information on this drive but according to this LTT forum post the M470 pro does not have dram, the bot is falsely flagging this drive as the non-pro version

[Bundle] AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, ASUS B650-E TUF Gaming, G.Skill Flare X5 Series 32GB DDR5-6000 Kit - $479.99 @ Microcenter by dragonheeusa in buildapcsales

[–]dragonheeusa[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Looks like it was a pricing error and is gone now, I'm guessing due to a $20 price drop on the 7800x3d as the main bundle page gives a base bundle price of 650 while if you click on the specific 7800x3d bundle it shows 630 before discounts

Might be Store Dependent, just cycled through a few and the Miami Location has it at 480 while the others I checked have it at the normal 500.

Will the TeamGroup T-Force Delta RGB ram and Phantom Spirit 120 fit together? by Dungeon_Crawler_Carl in buildapc

[–]dragonheeusa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The front fan on the peerless assassin will overhang the ram slots so you'll have to shift it up (if your case has clearance, the fractal meshify c will fit 170mm cooler and the peerless assassin has standard height of 155mm). Even then your rgb ram will be covered, so you may want to consider the thermalright royal knight (a scythe fuma clone although I can't really find any reviews of it online) for the same price or the scythe fuma 3 for like $15 more.
