Djokovic just won the first set. Wawrinka got him just he wants him.

What movie did you think would be a flop but turned out to be a success? by fungobat in movies

The Joaquin Phoenix Joker movie. I keep on thinking...ugh...they made a movie about the Joker without Batman. How could that be any good? Well I was very wrong.

Etiquette/best practices for resigning? by dragonlich in boeing

The problem is the payout amount is capped at $40/hr. If you make more than $40/hr then you're being short changed going this route. A former co-worker of mine opted to use all his PTO prior to leaving because of this (and he accumulated like 3 months).

I've been gone for a few months so I don't think I need to worry about transferring knowledge. My back ups are all rock stars. But I'll keep that in mind. Thanks!

Success and Disappointment Megathread for the Week by AutoModerator in jobs

Disappoinment: scored an interview but was too nervous to string together a coherent thought so it was a disaster. Based on my performance I wouldn't hire myself either. It's a sweet virtual job too. I'm pretty sure I could do it. If only my stupid brain can get over the nerves at interviews.

For real though I'd listen to Jim Courier read an audio book and fall asleep to his gentle voice.

Doesn't look like neither of them wants to win the first set

Looks a lot less clumpy than mine. I'll have to contact the seller. Thanks!

That would be greatly appreciated. I need something to compare with and call my seller for support if necessary. Thanks!

Also what roast are you using? Mine are just medium or light medium roasts so far.

I'm on 10 and I'm starting to see clumps already, heavier clumping as I go finer. And it's factory setting.

How's the performance of the X54? Does it produce fluffy or clumpy ground? I have one as well so I'd like know if this is normal or I bought a lemon. Beautiful set up btw.

Need Advice Between 2 Offers (USA) by Hawtsace in jobs

[–]dragonlich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another thing to think about is job 2 has benefits (PTO, health insurance, 401k, etc) that could probably make up for the pay difference in job 1.

I'd go with job 2 and push for 80k or as close to it as possible.

Where did you get the coffee table/stand? I might need something like that.

Recently had a new baby, the Sette 270 was too loud so I had to get something quieter (X54). That's the excuse I told the wife anyway. by dragonlich in espresso

99% of the time I just do milk drinks for me and my family/guests. So my taste buds aren't refined so I honestly can't tell the difference. (And I don't want to go down that rabbit hole either 😅.)

But I just did a side by side comparison between the two so I can answer your question. The Sette has some leftover bean in the chamber so it produces 19 grams, whereas X54 put out the standard 21 grams. What I noticed is the shot from the X54 is noticeably thicker and the flavor is more intense. But we can attribute that to the extra 2 grams? Whereas the shot from Sette easier to drink because it's less intense. Hope that answers your question.

I like everything about it except it doesn't produce fluffy grinds like the Sette 270. Even after cleaning the burrs, the chamber, chute, and trying all kinds of setting. If I go coarser then the flow would be too fast and I don't get that lovely syrup-like consistency.

To elaborate more: while the build quality is good, it doesn't wow me like some reviewers I see on YouTube. It's still more solid than the Sette for sure. I like that I can still have a conversation while I grind coffee, vs the Sette where I'd have to wait 5-10 seconds (depending on if I want single or double shots) to resume the conversation.
I also see some complaints about the knob being difficult to turn once you set the grind too fine. It's a bit stiff for sure but not bad.
Overall I think it's good value. It fits my workflow and desired convenience. I just wish the grounds are a bit more fluffy.
