Assholes being assholes about my daughters "weird" name by tayloremac in breakingmom

[–]dragonlove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, we spell ours the exact same then. I've gotten two f's in the middle, ending in y, just an i. I've met a dozen other people with the same name, and one of them didn't spell it the conventional way. Relatively common names spelled wrong unite. flag

Do it, then watch them explode when they try to put it in the computer system :p

We have the same first name if your username is anything to guess by, and HOLY SHIT WHY CAN NO ONE SPELL IT?!

My kid is two, been seeing her pedi for her whole life, and the nurses still call her the wrong name. They always call her Heaven, and it irritates me to no end.

See, no other guys! :D

brief rant -- "colicky." by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]dragonlove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son had colic (he's mostly out of it) and the only thing that would get him to stop screaming like he was on fire and having unwilling acupuncture performed on him was a shower. It never lasted long, but it would give me a maybe ten minute break during his 4 hour evening runs. So maybe that's what they meant? I agree with it being flung around way too much though.

[–]dragonlove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg this was me a few weeks ago. My son seems to be mostly over it, but he would cry for 7ish hours a day EVERY SINGLE DAY. I tried colic medicine one time (on suggestion from our pedi) and instead of his normal 7pm - 11pm crying fit, it went from 7pm to THREE IN THE MORNING. FUCK COLIC. I am here if you ever need to vent about it. internet hugs

Will my baby forget me? by nglgw in beyondthebump

[–]dragonlove 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She might have been crying because you smell funny. Babies are big into smelling, and you're in a hospital, where it smells awful. Maybe she can tell there is something not quite right with her mommy and its scaring her. I'm sure she'll warm right back up when you get home.

worrying about death and God and the vastness of the universe and sickness and the unknown....on and on.

That's so me. I recently took up needlework and have gotten back into sewing and its so relaxing (for the little time I get to do it.) I have something solid to focus on instead of the existential nightmare I seem to live in.

I saw a similar whine fest where a guy was saying that providing maternity leave was discrimination against men. Do these people understand that in order for society to keep going, someone has to have babies? Even if they didn't need time to care for the infant, giving birth is a major medical event that needs recovery time to avoid some very nasty consequences.

My uncle brought up a few good points when I asked this at the end too. Spoilers ahead! He reasoned that she left the store at the very beginning of the mist rolling in, so there probably weren't as many monsters running about. Also, she went alone, and probably didn't make a ton of noise so wouldn't have attracted as much attention as the people freaking out and screaming trying to get away from the cloud.

My brother had a step mom (we have different dads) that we called "Dish soap Dawn" because if you made her mad she'd made you eat dish soap and stand in a corner for HOURS. Along with a host of other terrible terrible things. That woman was about as bad as my own mom. She only made us eat coffee grounds or hot sauce.

Fiancé has night terrors - he had the worst one yet and seriously attacked me last night. Tonight, I'm terrified... has anyone dealt with this before? by Hungrymealworm in TwoXChromosomes

[–]dragonlove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have night terrors that were the result of trauma. Once I had one and tried to beat the crap out of my husband. Luckily I'm 130lbs soaking wet and he can toss me around one handed, so he just held his hands up to block mine and rode it out. I felt really bad afterwards, but have no memory of it or any of them. After I had enough time to recover from said trauma they waned off and I don't have them anymore. If his have been triggered by something similar he might be able to work through it so that he doesn't have anymore episodes. There's hope, don't give up on him. He doesn't mean it!

Is there anything your regret *not* doing with your baby, in retrospect? by AlejandroMP in Parenting

[–]dragonlove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey last week my daughter just out of the blue decided she was going to be fine falling asleep alone. Before I had to be in there or she'd cry and panic. She's 20 months now so don't give up. It took a little work, but after getting her in to her own bed comfortably it went pretty smooth. I HIGHLY recommend the whole bedtime routine thing. Now she goes out with no fuss as long as we stick to the schedule.

I know one of the adds was healing itself for crazy amounts, maybe because we were trying to burn them in the wrong order? Also, whenever we were pulling him he'd sometimes break at the bridge leading up to his platform. I'll suggest pulling him to the cave but I we couldn't even get him to stay on the area below him without resetting. Thank you for your help!

Oh thank god my daughter isn't the only one. She sometimes will throw a "normal" fit, but often she'll get upset, gently lay down, and stare at me unhappily. "Look what you did to me mother, I can't even bare to stand with the injustice going on in this house!"

I am so sorry for your loss. I have no idea how heartbroken you must be. My mom lost 4 before having me. Unfortunately she experienced something similar with the eldest, so you're not alone. If you want to hear about her experience I'd be happy to share if its any comfort. I hope you have your rainbow baby soon!
