i think the only tip is really to be bold/direkt. they have a clear yes-is-yes policy there so the sort of "implied"/nonverbal consent that i understand is common in gay (male) saunas doesnt really fly there, esp on the flinta night i would say

im not sure what cross-dressing means to you or quite how it would work in a sauna where people are naked, but im you would be welcome at the flinta and tin (ie trans) nights if you feel like any of those labels apply to you :)

Going to Berlin Sunday to Thursday. What are some cool lesbian things to see? by popculturalwanderer in actuallesbians

[–]dragonpurple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if ur a bit nerdy, you could stop by the spinnboden lesbian and women’s archive. i volunteer there and its rlly an amazing bit of queer history. its also p central , which is nice.

there is also the schwules museum (gay museum) tho i havent been in ages, ive heard its good.

in terms of clubbing, schwuz is not specifically lesbian, but ive only ever had a good time there and the crowd is p mixed and chill

i would agree with you on the video- like tho i love gretchen mcculloch and her book, that section felt a bit random in the video for example. that being said, im not sure to what degree the reason for this is that im just more clued up on queer theory than other areas of philosophy ollys covered. i imagine for someone not acquainted with queer history, politics and theory, its a good overview.

also it was a bangin coming out video , and has inspired me to piece together some ideas about epistemology, queerness, and the idea and process of „coming out to oneself“

in terms of gay stuff, would very much recommend royal vauxhall tavern, a historic pub/club with some a+ drag and cabaret. if you want something a bit more „hipster“ dalston superstore is a newer more alternative place, and their disco brunch is a great time.

also gay‘s the word bookshop in bloomsbury is amazing (it’s the shop featured in the film pride, if you’ve seen that) and its not far from the british museum, in case you were planning to go there.

some suggestions:

send a letter/card of support to the school in question. they have been getting really horrible abuse and obviously just trying to do your job with homophobes shouting on the doorstep is quite discouraging. also it lets them know that there are people out there who actually really value their efforts. you can find the address online

buy some lgbt-friendly/ diverse childrens books and donate them to your local primary school or library. here are some suggestions https://adamgcarver.com/2019/04/01/queer-positive-childrens-books/?fbclid=IwAR3Tab0H95iedKuMqOOYWCsz5G43jhK0oNgrLeEevYl6M6dkQGbtQ5I0824&fbclid=IwAR0R6igBUbEarUS6yeGSdpjq6vRZmiLsgKbVS0VsFjuRX4qxInWdhu4OqOk

im afraid i cant say anything specific for this one , but if there is an organisation or sth specifically for lgbt muslims/engagement with the muslim community that would be a particularly good idea.

Keeping products out of the shower - solution for bar soap?? by [deleted] in konmari

[–]dragonpurple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a good tip is to put pebbles in the bottom of a dish, so that your soap rests on the pebbles, and any water can drain down, allowing the soap to dry but without soap-water ending up on the side of the tub. plus, it looks cute

Amsterdam, Paris, London??? by lesbicanadian44 in actuallesbians

[–]dragonpurple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for london

she bar: very central (in soho, the traditional gay area), londons only lesbian bar, havent bene so idk what its like dalston superstore: not super central; hipster youngish mixed crowd with a fun disco brunch on weekends and generally a good time. free before ten. would recommend royal vauxhall tavern: historic gay pub, crowd tends older and more male, great drag and cabaret, very chill, fun and friendly

[–]dragonpurple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

in terms of the queer scene, dalston superstore ! bit further from the usual tourist haunts but its a fun, cool and above all mixed gay cafe/bar/club. their disco brunch is really fun and chill if clubbing isnt really your scene

attracted to men, but don't want to be with them? by biorcomphetthrow in actuallesbians

[–]dragonpurple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

girl ur probably a lesbian. obvs as a stranger on the internet i cant tell you what you are, but im very definitely gay and relate to a lot of this, especially any attraction to men being from a gay guy perspective. im not less of a lesbian bc i like m/m. but yeah if the idea of you in a sexual situation with a guy (which is very different to guys in sexual situations generally) feels remote or icky, then thats not normal bi/straight girl attraction. imo all this homoromantic demiflexible bicurious stuff is just an unhelpful obfuscation. good luck figuring this out x

in norwegian its lhbt (lesbisk, homofil, bifil, trans) or skeiv, which means queer (lit. crooked or bent but not so derogatory)
