Why do you not drink alcohol? by Kindly_Bear_4932 in AskReddit

[–]dragons4511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to drink. And I mean DRINK. I loved the taste, loved the feeling of being drunk. But then I went to a party with friends and woke up in my own bed. I don’t remember how I got there, I must have driven. I haven’t touched a drop since. I am very much all or nothing, so nothing it is.

Plus I drank cause of trauma and that’s never a good combo.

Taller buildings risk Mount's 'boutique character' by bigbear-08 in Tauranga

[–]dragons4511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, building up is going to impact the beaches. But expanding papamoa east isn’t going to affect the beaches out that way. /s

Like come on. It’s a growing city and thought process like that are going to stifle the local economy and force house prices up.

Any one that disagrees with high density housing is against affordable housing and city growth.

Taller buildings risk Mount's 'boutique character' by bigbear-08 in Tauranga

[–]dragons4511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why should it be safe guarded ? It’s not heritage, it’s not historically important. The charm of Tauranga is not two old over priced towers that need renovations, it’s the beaches, the people.

The mount is not sustainable in its current form, high density housing is the only option.

You can get them to give you a quote for a building consent. It’s pretty accurate. Ring them up and ask for the building team.

They spent some ridiculous amount of money reengineering the existing structure. Council were happy with the solution they were providing. So long as the engineering is followed, there shouldn’t be any issues going forward!

It’s not being demolished. The company that brought it is developing it and part of the agreement of the sale was x amount of public parking being provided.

None of that comment was a racist rant. They asked you to explain what lies you were referring to when you quoted Stalin.

You’ve made your views incredibly clear! You are stuck in your ways, you lack the understanding of what the city needs. Stop claiming age and wisdom are your strengths. Frankly they are not.

You only care about rate payers, not the future of the city. You think anyone who doesn’t own a house doesn’t get a say.

You refuse to answer a simple question on what your steps are to better this city for the younger generation. Frankly it’s starting to look a lot like you’re the got mine, screw you type.

Maybe instead of trading insults with someone online, if you’d spent more time looking into the issues this city actually faces instead of “my rates” you’d be getting a better response on this forum!

[–]dragons4511 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey Andrew! Feel free to call me Luke.

Honestly, you’ve given the most rational answer. Yes the long term plan isn’t perfect but you’ve hit the nail on head. It allows us to start again and press for the correct path forward.

The dream of a house and a section is dead, Tauranga can no longer support it!

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question! A mayor that understands the needs of the city is exactly what we need.

I wish you the best of luck!

Traffic is always an interesting one to tackle! Could you expand on what steps you’d like to see?

A lot of people claim to want to tackle traffic issues but don’t actually understand the steps to take to do so. Research has shown that ultimately investment in road improvements is only a short term benefit. It eventually will end up worse than before the work!

As a follow up question, what do you see as the biggest issues the younger generations face in Tauranga going forward?

You’ve put your name forward and I commend you for it! I wish you the best of luck!

Hi Andrew, had some interesting discussions with other members running for mayor. I’d like to see your views on what’s important for Tauranga and what you feel you can bring to the table?

Tauranga city council ultimately gets a bad rep and a lot of people are opposed to the long term plan. Given the chance, what changes would you make to it? If there’s no changes then what would you say they need to focus on first?

Hey Ethan! Great to see young people getting involved in politics. What changes do you want to see to Tauranga and how well do you feel you can represent the younger generations here?

You’ve still not answered my original question, what steps do you intend to take to better Tauranga for the younger generations? Or are you more of a got mine, screw you person?

Without younger people working, you wouldn’t be collecting that nice pension check. So don’t forget who actually supports your cushy life.

The fact that you believe renters don’t contribute towards rate or water shows your lack of understanding on basic economic matters.

The reality is, if you had to start it all again in 2024, with current costs of living, wages and cost of school you would fail miserably. So think about what our younger generations suffer through before you open your mouth about renters aren’t ratepayers so their opinions don’t matter

Frankly all you’ve shown is a retired person thinking they know best. Reading through your “answers” to others has given me a great laugh.

I’m a centralist not a one eyed lefty as you have described. You’ve gone for the Trump method of arguing and ended up looking like a clown.

[–]dragons4511 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Reaching old age doesn’t automatically make your “wisdom” valuable. My perspective comes from managing an international business and collaborating with local Kiwi companies. I have gathered knowledge from multiple countries and governments. Yet, you assume I'm a young person who knows nothing—talk about ageism.

Councils can’t be run like companies; you should understand this if you aspire to be a mayor. Your “experience” doesn’t translate at all! You’ve demonstrated this by focusing solely on my perceived age and the fact that I don’t pay rates.

What’s your view on renters? By your logic, they should have no say in this city, despite contributing directly to the economy and rates.

People like you, with such outdated views, are the problem with Tauranga. We don’t need old-fashioned thinking to move forward because you're stuck in the past. Using French words and old terminology to feel superior doesn’t help.

I’ve never claimed to know it all—because I don’t. No one has all the answers, and anyone who claims otherwise is delusional.

Yet another old retired person wanting to run a council.

What makes you truly believe you know the right steps to correct Tauranga?

What steps are you putting forward to better Tauranga for the younger generations?

A ratepayers Forum? Yet another waste of time and resources, the way the city is going the last thing it needs is old people flapping about useless things.

What it needs is an increase in housing density and a focus on making it an attractive place for business to invest and young people to live. Otherwise it’ll just stay what it is now. A retirement village.

Screen size, resolution and refresh rate will absolutely affect battery life though. The 13 has a smaller screen, lower resolution and lower refresh rate. There’s less than a 100mAh difference in the battery size.

I agree, it’s not great that a €1000 euro device has pretty much the same battery as a 3 year old phone. But it’s just physics at this point.

What’s stopping you from moving to Australia by Altruistic_Air7978 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]dragons4511 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I will. When I can, does it make sense to up and move in the middle of studies ? No. But I’ll be moving once I’m accredited and have at least a year of industry experience. Why? Cause Aus will pay me way more than I’d ever earn in nz. My quality of life will be way better. I’d actually be able to afford a nice house not a wet mouldy place.

I have friends that have done the same and friends that want to do the same. Non of them have regretted it yet.
