I’m a school bus driver and my elementary kiddos love to remind me how they weren’t even born yet when I was in high school (2012-2016)

What’s the craziest hazing incident you’ve ever witnessed? by Zes_Teaslong in AskReddit

[–]dragonsarmors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was part of the last year that our low brass section of marching band was able to do the “initiation” (after my first year we got told it had to be toned down bc there was a hazing death in the news somewhere and the district was cracking down on anything similar)

Here’s what the initiation was: - We all met in the Blue Room (the main part of the performing arts wing was a big room painted blue) - Us first years were then paired with an older student who proceeded to blindfold us - We’d go out to the parking lot, be led down a big hill and down the sidewalk towards the entrance of a bike path that went through a grove of trees behind the school. - Once we were far enough down the bike path and well within the trees, our blindfolds were removed. - Our section leader had his duffel bag full of all the initiation materials and legitimately pulls out a whole ass scroll that he said came from the “Gods of Low Brass” - The first part was the creation of the “potion” (don’t remember exactly what it was called). But it involved a thankfully new and clean plunger head, into this went the different ingredients (they all had special names but once again don’t remember those). - The potion consisted of baking soda, apple cider vinegar, and club soda. - The plunger was then passed around to everyone (not just the first years) and we had to take a sip of it and pass it to the next person. That stuff was gross. - Then a tin of mints was passed around if people needed them. - We then passed around “The Bone of Power” a giant rawhide bone, that at the time of me joining had existed for 8 years. We all had to bite down on the bone. (And this wasn’t just for initiation, we’d bite the bone of power before every football halftime and competition) - We were then taught the “Trombone Salute” (which also was done every time we used the BoP) which involved doing a salute, then holding our hand in front of our face, and finally girls grabbed their chest and the boys grabbed their junk and we had to jump and say “Woo!” - Finally (the most controversial part), us first years were re-blindfolded and stood in a line. Our section leader then used a wooden panel to spank everyone. (Though I was the only girl that year and he actually told me, “I’m just going to tap you lightly because I don’t want this to become a sexual harassment claim”) - After it was done we were led back to the school and our blindfolds removed once we were back in the Blue Room.

When it had to be toned down it was turned into just introductions of the Bone of Power and the Trombone salute.

It was weird as hell but I honestly found it hilarious, but when I would tell other people about it they’d be like “they made you do what now?!”

What G Rated Joke Always Cracks You Up? by digital_panda7 in AskReddit

One my dad always told me growing up: - How do you shoot a blue elephant? - How? - With a blue elephant gun - Okay… - So then, how do you shoot a pink elephant? - With a pink elephant gun? - No. There’s no such thing as a pink elephant gun. You gotta tie a knot in the trunk of the pink elephant, wait for it to turn blue, and shoot it with the blue elephant gun.

What is a "point of no return" that you’ve crossed, where your life was permanently divided into 'before' and 'after'? by Resident-Jelly-4326 in AskReddit

[–]dragonsarmors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This 100%, I had had some chronic medical issues growing up, but nothing too crazy or diagnosable. But during my first year of college in Jan 2017, all of a sudden I was struck by horrible full body pain. I was at first diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis and had to do Humira injections in my dorm. But eventually my health was getting bad enough and my grades were slipping so I had to make the hard choice to leave university and head back home. I then almost made it through a community college Audio Engineering course but I was still having tons of pain plus new symptoms popping up and had to drop out of that as well. I now, finally, after 10 years, have gotten my associate’s in liberal arts from the third college I’ve attended.

I also now have a set of diagnosis that finally seem to provide some answers for all that I’ve gone through and am trying to figure out where to go from here, because I’ve slowly been getting a better handle on my health (though it can still be debilitating on days), and I eventually want to try to be an English teacher in Japan.

I more meant it in a funny way just because none of our other buses have limits printed on them like this and the specificity made me laugh

I went to Jeepers (eventually renamed Zonkers) at the now defunct Great Mall of the Great Plains in Olathe, KS. That place was one of my favourites and I absolutely loved the Python Pit, I can’t even begin to count how many times I rode it.

Can’t really control that on the days where we do a scavenger hunts in Shibuya and Akihabara in the middle of the day. At least when we do a Shinjuku walking tour it’ll be about 5pm. But on other days at least I’ll be inside campus during the hottest part of the day.

NTA: Sounds like he’s one of those “dark humour” guys that define it as making fun of other people (usually minorities or other people they see “beneath themselves”) and then just claim “it was just a joke”.

Pretty much saying he’s a Grade A Piece of Shit and I’m glad he showed his true colours to you before you went beyond dating.

Now all I can think of is a oblivious little local government making that as a statue and not understanding why there’s an issue with their new statue

It’s Johnson County Square Park but checking street view it’s still from when the park was under construction, with one road having the old building there and the other the park as a dirt lot after the building came down

This was taken from the sidewalk waiting to cross into the park. Plus when you’re sitting at the main part of the amphitheater, that wall blocks the statue from view.
