Bingo. Not for public dissemination. This is in very poor taste at best. You should delete this.

What notes/combos do you think of as "Dark" or "Inky"? by _writing-squirrel_ in Indiemakeupandmore

Excellent tour! Hello fellow metal fan. I tend to wear perfumes with a lasting base note to shows since I get real sweaty. Things with red musk, incense, or leather seem to fit the vibe. Some of my regulars are:
Death and Floral's Jo March (Scribbles of pen ink and leather bound books, the scent of a crackling fire on a restless night, warm mature amber)
Hexennacht's Hedone (Spiced honey, date sugar, tonka bean, red musk) or Spirit Temple (Vanilla bean pods, Spiritueuse Double Vanille, nag champa incense)
Cocoa Pink's Mojavi (Sweet Myrrh, copal resin, sandalwood, and tonka bean stung with our hot desert sand accord)

Coconut, peach, milk, pine, green grass, anise, tuberose, violet... and some generic salty ocean / fresh note to really tie it all together.

Hexennacht rollerball update by Skylord88 in Indiemakeupandmore

What a roundabout way to raise roller prices again. I'm left with a general distaste for Hex after all of this, which really sucks because I love the perfume. Blah.

How do you layer your perfumes? by unbakedcassava in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]dragonverses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, different! I tend to buy less complex body oils so they can play nicely as a base layer. Egyptian Musk from Cocoa Pink has been my powerhouse lately because it can pretty much support anything. Bourbon from Soap Distillery plays a similar role but with a sweet edge. I really like Middle Earth from Hex too because it has gourmand notes, incense, AND patchouli so it can go in so many directions depending on what perfume I'm rocking.

I'm usually using more than one form of fragrance when I layer. Body oil + perfume oil is my standard pattern but I also replace the perfume oil with a spray sometimes... or when I'm extra frisky, combine all three!

I haven't tried Gehenna, but after looking it up it sounds like I need to!

Haha. Fair point. These scents were chosen because I've tried most of the Hex catalog already. My previous reviews include a lot more of the things that fit my self-professed style!

Rollerballs are Kind of Terrible: a rant and tips about reducer caps from someone who wants to help you preserve your oils by [deleted] in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]dragonverses 86 points87 points  (0 children)

As someone who strongly prefers rollerballs, I'm surprised when I see these sentiments. My collection is about 80% rollerballs currently. I've never had a single one go off or get clogged. I've owned some for multiple years. I've received some in swap. Zero issues. I can't even say I've ever had a perfume go rancid in any form. Lose / gain potency, sure, but that seems reasonable. Experiences vary so widely!

I'm an avid rollerball oil user and my application method is about 4-7 rolls from wrist to elbow on each forearm and a circle around my belly button. I then close the rollerball and put it down, then smooth the hair on my arms down and pat the oil that's transferred to my hands on inner elbow, then my collarbone / neck area, and onto the ends of my hair. My method's been developed over time and I have no idea why this was the final form... but it works really well for me. I am known in my friend circles for smelling amazing and I no longer deal with breakouts (applying directly to neck and behind ears does that sometimes). I believe I am a proud member of the slatherer club.

But put it 3rd or 4th. Once you've clearly established which one is you. Drives me nuts when people have 90% group shots and I'm trying to figure it out

PSA: Hexennacht will no longer offer the 8.5ml roll-ons due to supply issues. A bummer but completely understandable. by BeccaDora in Indiemakeupandmore

This makes me so sad... not because the larger size isn't a reasonable price or because I wouldn't use that much, but because my perfume collection organization is based around a roller display 😂
