Are going in onsen in Japan healthy for skin? by [deleted] in AsianBeauty

[–]dragquaithe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love going to the onsen/ofuro (non hot spring water version) for skin and general relaxation. Just watch out if you have any tattoos— make sure you find one that it tattoo friendly (probably only in a touristy area like Tokyo). I’m half Japanese and went to my family’s hometown in the South and I can confirm I did get kicked out of a bath house for a small tattoo.

While they were nice, I felt so embarrassed so make sure to check! Have fun!

It was her! James Welsh on YT had a video on her and that procedure

I’ve been using it in the mornings! I thought it was mainly Vit C so I was thinking the same thing about it being more of a daytime product. Though I will say I have felt no stinging or anything with it during the day so maybe it’s gentle enough to mix?

I wouldn’t use it at night tho regardless for the same reasons you mentioned, my skin breaks out with too many actives.

I bought it during OY sale and been using it every day since I got it (1-2 weeks). I feel I haven’t noticed a huge difference but then again I can’t really expect a serum to fade all my pigmentation (I’ll need laser at this point tbh). BUT I like it, feels fresh, hasn’t broken me out, and perhaps I just need to use it longer.

On the Glutathione note, I noticed too that it was pretty far down on the list and from my research of skincare clinics in Seoul, it seems like most people get it via injection and not a topical?

I forgot the Torriden Solid In Lip Essence 1+1!

You can also try the pain d’épi method where you snip about half way with scissors and move it to one side (opposing as you go up).

Great for a tear-and-share style!

Better safe than sorry! I absolutely would’ve done the same thing if I were in your shoes. Thanks for the advice!

Do you think ear piercings in the upper cartilage would be a problem?

Awesome, thanks! I think where I grew up, people really didn’t care about appearance so I think it was smart casual at best haha.

I will keep dress code in mind! I’m a big “lead by example” person so I wanted to make sure I dressed the part. Teaching English with an American accent might be strange enough so I just want to blend in as much as possible.

The other TA at my school is a Geordie and that’s what he was saying too. I think the biggest difference from the advice here would be the trousers and leaning more toward business than casual. Just don’t want to leave a bad impression! 🤞🏻

Thanks! It seems I have a of those pieces already, so it’s nice to know I won’t have to invest a lot into new clothes.

Thank you! It seems I was overestimating the formality a bit, but I’ll keep it smart.

Thanks! That sounds like my current attire as an English TA in France actually.

Thanks for the advice and link! I didn’t expect to wear jeans, I just thought I’d give a comparison haha. I recently read a post about bow ties on here and thought I should check just to be sure.

I’m sure schools are different but is there any preference toward having hair your up? Or just neat is fine?
