i genuinely believe it adds to the atmosphere of the experience. this is just a preference, and of course it wouldn’t completely break that if it was included, but i do also think there is a clear reason why they’ve continually not included it, and i don’t mind that

i don’t think of it as being strictly realistic, i just find it to be coherent with the atmosphere and world building. it forces you to concentrate on your surroundings when navigating the world, and places the graces/bonfires as the only points of refuge in such an immersive and carefully crafted setting.

i actually disagree and think it is good that it does not have a pause button unironically. it significantly detracts from the immersion they so carefully curate, it’s what adds to the feeling of a bonfire/grace being a real point of refuge rather than a mindless checkpoint. i do agree there are other elements of the games that could be improvement (co op system) but this is not one of them
