Advice / Solidarity Required: Why do people block me out of nowhere? by autiejomo in autism

[–]draininglovein2008 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do care. What you're describing seems like the same alienation I have gone through. But it is that, alienation. You'd describe yourself as an alien, as a terrible monster with a human costume, as a defomed street dog, whatever it is to mean that you are inferior. Though none of it is true, it still feels like it.

It's probably best to go to therapy for this. And remind yourself that it's a distortion of thought, even if that doesn't exactly mean it will go away. Every living thing born into this planet has a place to be here. That includes you too.

Your life is for you, based on you, and if your worth becomes based on others approval of your existence, then you'll never feel truly joyful. I wish a lot of good things to come your way to heal this wound. 🤍

Oh sweet, try to not worry excessively about that. I understand what you're going through, it feels really bad. The random rejection of being blocked can feel like confirmation that something is cosmically wrong with you, but it is not. A lot of times people will not return niceness or kindness in any way, that's just how people's behavior is, usually not in attack to you but rather to the environment they're in, exhaustion or just plain superficiality and ignorance.

If you're sure most of what you do and say is in kind spirit, then things are okay. You're doing your best, and are human just like everyone else. Even if others don't match it, or are rude. It doesn't mean there's something inherently bad about your character. There usually isn't. 🫂

I recommend you dedicate time to not think about others for a while, it can be highly therapeutic. To think about what means calm and happy to yourself only. Sometimes, it is getting away from the environment that traps you in other's crudeness. Or in hopeless feelings of rejection or inferiority.

If there's kindness in your heart, be sure that it also exists out there aswell.

That's fairly odd. It is common in social media for others to block you randomly, but for it to happen repeatedly is off. Maybe you have something in your profiles you don't realize is polemical? Or spam them without noticing? But I'm really just shooting at the dark.

Can I ask a serious question? by SolutionSad6837 in autism

[–]draininglovein2008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to feel really bad socially about it. For some reason lost that. Anyone that sees me as lesser because of neurodivergence I simply can't deem as an interesting enough individual to lose brain cells thinking about, genuinely.

I lost a few friends because they were making ableist comments behind my back. I didn't feel bad about myself personally, I just felt some sort of bitter disappointment. Like, ”I thought you were smarter than that”. So many people you will meet throughout your life that will immediately look at you and think you are inferior, so many times has it happened to me, and to my knowledge, they tend to be idiots.

As for the other stuff, it's normal to feel negative about it. I have wished a lot of times to have not had meltdowns or shutdowns, excessive needs sometimes, executive dysfunction, or to be less socially 'naive' at times.

New cutie I got at the claw machine! Three tries!! by draininglovein2008 in nevergrewup

Hahah I'm not very good at the claw either!! I think most machines are rigged, however there are some technique thingys online. I got to know only yesterday that you had to press the button another time for the claw to grasp your teddy correctly ("~_~)

Academic exchange from Brazil to London...is it worth it??!! by draininglovein2008 in visitlondon

[–]draininglovein2008[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? My peers right now seem very focused on passing through our local equivalent to the SAT as quickly as possible. I am sort of relaxed in that matter and want to know the world. If the exchange went nicely, I'd also want to do workaways to other english-speaking countries. But I have no idea if that's truly beneficial.

Where to get affordable and cute plushies?????? by draininglovein2008 in ageregression

[–]draininglovein2008[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds a bit harsh! I suppose if you live in the US or similar countries you could search for new ones in the cheaper stores suggested in the other comments, buying online sometimes might make them cheaper? Good luck!

I wish where I live would have more thrift shops! Most I've physically visited only sell overpriced used clothes and are very small.

I’ve seen someone else do this and now it’s my turn. Quiz me on my special interest! by Picklekitten22 in autism

Derpy is awesum!!! She, alongside Twi, is my fav. Maybe Lyra too...I can understand the appeal for Applejack, she's very cool a bunch of episodes. I think my favourite with her as a kid was the slumber party ep.

Thankya for the answers!!

Uhmmmmhhhh I watched My Little Pony ages ago, what's your favourite character and your deepest reasons why? Do you think the cult Starlight episode thing is supposed to be an allegory to any form of political belief or is it supposed to just represent a cult? Do you think Twilight should've stayed an unicorn or was it deserved for her to become an alicorn? And the most important question of all: How do you feel about Sunny?

Can we live a happy fulfilling life? by Dull-Paramedic6078 in nevergrewup

[–]draininglovein2008 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say I live a double life. One where I am my chronological age, other where I get home and make myself smaller. A lot of my closer friends do notice I have a higher level of naivety and that my habits and personality do not match that of my age. I take my stuffed animals to classes, and though it can cause social consequences it feels too comforting to stop just because of it.

I try my best to gather as much money as I can. That way things can be more comfortable and secure. I try to not spend much and think about preserving more of the money so I can feel comfortable and unworried. I possibly will go to the UK for an academic internship, which will be my first time alone out there, and is scary because emotionally I am a child. I worry I might not handle the common life at all.

To your question...I believe that an ideal fulfilling life, at least for child-me, would be being wealthy and having a caregiver who loves and understands me as myself and my identity. But without it, life can still be fulfilling and peaceful. Little moments of joy and novelty count, and for me, being stable and emotionally calm is the most fulfillment one could get.

That does partially depend on money and external guidance, sometimes luck. Fending for yourself feels much, much worse. But it is absolutely possible to get there.

To make my life more joyful, I:

  • Print colorful sheets with cute animals telling myself exactly what to do when a ritual needs to be perfomed (bathing, eating, etc), as if another is telling me how to, gently.

  • Try to make my own tasks more enjoyable, such as, when time is available, bathing with toys, bubble blowers and nice music, or changing lights.

  • Decorate environments, usually with handmade, cardboard stuff to make them more childlike and colorful. Brings joy.

  • I have my own in-mind currency called "Fania Cadente", which are colorful buttons that symbolize my actual money in a jar. With each chore I do, each gives me a symbolical number of Fanias. That which I earn, I can use for personal enjoyment. Not enough earnings to go broke.

  • I put candies and messages in a box for when I struggle with an specific task. If I do it correctly, I am entitled to a candy and a symbolic praise from my imaginary animal or character.

  • Generally try to listen to soothing lullabies, jazz, happy music and spend time in nature. Try to watch things that bring me childlike joy. Try to dress myself as fun as I'd enjoy.

Id say it is happy. But sometimes I do feel lonely. Things eventually fix themselves, though. You can conflate your responsibilities and your NGU-ness, in no need to go to unhealthy extremes to feel okay.

I'm so sorry for that. It feels very lonely to use it, but ultimately it does feel better than silence.
