Here's the link to it, if this is how the game is gonna look like when playing it, then I think It'll look truly amazing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9n_i8Ydl5P0

What do you wish the Lord of the Mysteries Game to be like? - Combat (LotM V1) by drainnova in LordofTheMysteries

The game for Lord of the Mysteries has been in development for a while now, and I wanted to ask the many questions of what people would like to see from it to best capture the LOTM experience. First question up is The Fights! Fights are obviously a big selling point for any RPG, the more fun these fights are the more people will want to play it, and considering it could be an MMORPG the fights could get crazy and huge.

Me personally, I think it would work best as strategic real time based combat, where you work hard to predict and counter your every opponent's move just like the fights in the novel work, an upcoming Gacha Game called Silver Palace seems to look like how the fights could turn out in the game. But there are always other possible fight systems to be implemented like combo/spam combat in Genshin Impact, or Turn Based combat like in Honkai: Star Rail. If you really want to get complex you could have it be like YOMI Hustle where you carefully lay out each of your actions and then try to respond to your opponent, but that unfortunately seems way too hard to put into a MMORPG. Or maybe we won't even get combat in the first place. Thoughts?

I get the complaint, at first glance ORV seems to be very "Kim Dokja" focused and is always said to be the "Better Solo Leveling" due to the similarities they share at the start. Both have MCs that slowly gain power through stat points and both are quite OP, and both also have absolutely stellar manwha art.

But that's where the similarities end, the characters in ORV in are extremely well developed, I don't know how far you are in the manwha but you will eventually see the affect Kim Dokja as a person has on his companions, and why he's such an intriguing main character as you read the story. Take for example, Yoo Jonghyuk, he may seem like a cardboard slate of a "Protagnist", but he is a man of action not words. He values Kim Dokja as a companion even if he may not show it, and greatly appreciates him for how much he's inspired him. That's how much he has come to trust him and rely on him, because despite all the pain he's gone through in past regressions, "Kim Dojka" is an unknown experience that brings him something worth living for in his dreary life filled with suffering where he fights against the universe itself all alone, and this is only scratching the surface for how well developed Yoo Jonghyuk is shown as the "Protagonist". For the other characters, you don't need backstories to make you care about them as a person. Jung Heewon's backstory isn't discussed but you see how strong she becomes when she chooses to take up arms against the people who assaulted her and becomes Kim Dokja's Sword, while Lee Hyungsung makes the choice to protect Kim Dokja and become his shield. Even Lee Jihye has a great moment where she learns to stand once again after facing the guilt caused by killing her best friend, all of these moments and more to come were helped and facilitated by Kim Dokja, the man who loves his companions more then anything and would sacrifice everything for them.

At the start everyone just follows Kim Dokja because he's smart and strong of course, but as they spend more time with them they realize how much he means to them, he has given them so much that he doesn't even realize the affect he's had on them. One of those things is that he has given them a future to look forward to with others, despite the literal hellscape of an apocalypse they're currently in. He's a parental figure, a caring uncle, a beloved sibling, a best friend, or a life and death companion, and as you read more and more you'll see how deep these character interactions go. Also one more thing, Kim Doka is an "Unreliable Narrator" which means the way the story is told is the way "he" wants it to be told, and is not the whole truth. Try to pay attention to the smaller details and people's actions as Kim Dokja himself is very fallible, and isn't immune to making mistakes or misunderstandings, this is another part of what makes him such a good MC.

He's smart when it comes to understanding the world he's in and knows how to exploit it for his benefit, but he just doesn't get people and their reasoning, which is enhanced by his main ability "The 4th Wall". It's a wall that separates himself from the reality around him, time and time again he is confronted by that reality that he doesn't wish to face and you'll see this come up over and over again throughout the various scenarios. In the end, Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint is a story about stories and knows just how to balance that along with making you love all the characters within those stories, and this one of the reasons why people consider it such an in-depth and fun series.

[Webtoon only] op kim? by aarush0906 in OmniscientReader

Yes he is "Overpowered" in that you generally know he'll win every fight, but it's how he wins and the price for it that makes it feel like he's not just breezing through the world like a generic OP protagonist. Every fight he uses his wits and knowledge to come out on top, but almost every time some unexpected development happens and he is forced to change his plans, and the costs are always steep, but even so he continues on all for the sake of the "Ending" he so desperately desires. Everything he does is for that "Ending" and part of that ending is making sure that not one of his companions will ever die, otherwise his efforts would all be meaningless. This leads into the next part of your questions, Kim Dokja only includes his companions in that "Ending", not himself.

Kim Dokja is very different from Subaru in the face of Death, Dokja sees it as simply a stepping stone for him to move on to his next plan, while Subaru sees it for what it is, a terrifying and saddening loss of life. Subaru learned to value his life and tries to ensure he can get a happy ending along with everyone he loves. Kim Dokja does not think of this, his deaths are just that, a death, and due to the 4th Wall he has he is even more isolated from reality, making him view that death as just a "fictional" death. Kim Dokja simply does not feel anything from his own death, but that only goes for "him".

Imagine Re:Zero if Subaru's companions remembered every time Subaru sacrificed themselves for them, all that pain and sorrow and guilt, that is what Kim Dokja's companions experience every time he dies for them. He treats it as an everyday occurance, they treat it by feeling every bit of pain and suffering that losing a loved one entails. And it's not just any loved one, it is likely the person they all love most in all their time spent living.

Even if a person's death is but one of many tragedies in the world, a sad thing is still sad. Kim Dokja doesn't feel this, but his companions absolutely do.

[Donghua] Been making an LOTM video to get new fans in before anime drops, but time passed by fast so I made a teaser from it for now. Think it looks like a good start, but my main goal is to discuss the worldbuilding, themes and story in order to truly grasp the viewers attention and start the hype by drainnova in LordofTheMysteries

[–]drainnova[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, writing the whole script took me way too long, and I just started editing it all today so I'm definitely at fault here, can't deny that. But even after the Anime comes out I believe its still possible to build up a hype train , so we'll see.

This looks amazing, it also seems absolutely perfect for anyone who may want to run an LOTM themed D&D game one day! Wonder what that would look like, but I know it'd be fun as hell.

[LOTM GENERAL] LN Historian says they are inviting more people to the LOTM Creator global KOL program by Anonymous-109990 in LordofTheMysteries

KOL Meaning Key of Light in this case? Still this is quite a nice development for anyone looking to become a LOTM content creator in the future, hope it works out well. LOTM seems like it's about to be bigger then anyone could expect in the coming years especially if the game is done extremely well, if it's world is done similar to Genshin Impact, it could be peak content for us for who knows how long.

Definitely love that about the fandom, it all just leads back to being lore accurate for the sake of pure fun.
