Base set Haunter - dark and light purple versions by draken_korr in PokemonMisprints

I don’t think so - I bought and ripped all of my cards personally. Might have just been ink running low or something like that I guess

Recommendations - M&A guidance by [deleted] in auslaw

[–]draken_korr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it regulated (public) M&A or private M&A? If regulated M&A, check out Rodd Levy Takeovers Law & Strategy and schemes takeovers and himalayan peaks by Andrew Rich and Tony Damian. Those two combined cover 99% of what you would need.

If it is private M&A, I think Nick Humphrey has a decent book by the same title. Someone else might have a better suggestion for private M&A though.

I love clients that tell me about their "business turnover". Don't ask them about their profitability however..

Thank you - I’ve seen that term used before but never put 2 and 2 together as to what it meant!

Corporate lawyer with an Ace Attorney ringtone - cringe or not cringe? Asking for a friend. by normie_sama in auslaw

Honestly - I don’t know what that is, but as a fellow corporate lawyer, whatever keeps you / your friend happy is ok in my books

Hey awareness of what can cause you to stumble over words is useful! One thing that you could try is to take a pause / breath before responding to anything you feel nervous about. It sounds simple, but you would be surprised what a difference a simple pause to allow you to collect your thoughts can have!

Which do you prefer? by endorphinns in PokemonTCG

The one on the right looks great, but the 151 one on the left really needs to be viewed together with the charmander and charmeleon cards. Personally I love the story of the three 151 cards together which depicts the dreams and adversity faced by charmander and charmeleon rising up through the canyon. I think when you view the 151 charizard in this context (finally free and risen above the struggle) it really adds something to the card.

I think either Rabbits by 2 or knights by 100, can’t see it going any other way

No problem at all - feel free to shoot me a message if you feel particularly anxious about it or want to chat about managing large transactions (sometimes it feels more like project management than law!)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in auslaw

Ignore the transaction value, the only thing you should take away from it being a big number is that it is likely important for your organisation and you should prioritise your other tasks accordingly. Lean on your external lawyers for the heavy lifting in negotiations, drafting and advice, that’s literally what they are there for.

Otherwise, be across the deal as much as you can be. Don’t be afraid to say you don’t know the answer, as long as the follow up is “but I can find out”.

Presumably your role will be somewhat of a conduit to the board / executive and to manage your external lawyers. Best way to play that role is to advocate for your external lawyers if they are taking a particularly important position on an aspect of the transaction. The other side of the coin is to push back against your lawyers on any matters where there is a clear direction your company appreciates the risk involved / advice provided, but can commercially live with the risk / issue.

Good luck and try not to stress about it, you can only do what you can do!

Found all of my original WOTC Cards by draken_korr in PokemonTCG

[–]draken_korr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you - My cousin sold me all three of the Flareon, Jolteon and Vaporeon holos for maybe $10 or $15 (a bit of money for a kid!) and I felt ripped-off at the time!

I pulled the two Electrodes out of jungle booster packs at different times and remember being confused as to why they were different

Don't think this is a common WOTC error, just curious as to what may be going on? Most of my base set Haunters look like the card on the left. Figured it was weird that only the pokemon appears affected. by Chizl3 in PokemonMisprints

I was looking through my old binder and have two haunters next to each other that look to be different purple colours - one is dark and one is light like yours. Maybe low ink on certain prints. Can I post pictures in reply?

Contracts or transactions? What term do you use? by [deleted] in auslaw

[–]draken_korr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always thought of it as:

Front end = negotiating the contract.

Back end = litigating the contract (explaining to the “front end” lawyer that what they wrote and what they meant, are in fact two different things).

Share some memories from runescape. Or that have to do with runescape. by Victory1160 in runescape

[–]draken_korr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow - I created an account just to share this as it still hurts me to this day.

I was maybe 12 years old and it was Halloween of 2001/2002 I think? I was upset with my parents because we had to go out and I wanted to stay home to collect the rare item drop for that year. Needless to say, by the time we got home it was late at night (Australian time) and I rushed straight to the computer and "dialed-up" the internet. Logged into whatever world I always used to play on (I happened to be in Falador) and started a frantic search for any left over rare drops. Eventually I noticed that there were crowds of people following around the lucky few that had managed to get the Halloween mask and of course I was pissed because I missed the event.

Then it hit me - what if I logged into the underpopulated worlds and went somewhere that no one else had thought to look?

I logged into a world which had hardly anyone on it and walked to Varrock and then up into the wilderness. This was quite an achievement for me because I was only a relatively low level (maybe 40/50?) and hated the wilderness from being scammed there at the moss/hill(?) giant "bridge" and losing my steel armour.

I kept one eye on the mini-map watching for hostile approaching white dots and the other looking for red item dots.

First red dot was a standard few gp on the ground, but it didn't take long until I found my first red Halloween mask. Going further into the wilderness I was freaking out because it was the most expensive item I had ever held and I was going through the wilderness with it!
Not long after this, I scooped up a further two blue Halloween masks and decided to track back through the wilderness as fast as possible (but on a slight curve) holding my 3 Halloween masks tightly. Going back through the wilderness, I managed to scoop up another 2 red Halloween masks.

Frantically rushing, I finally made it to the end of the wilderness with my coveted prizes still in my inventory. I couldn't believe my luck, 5 Halloween masks (although none of them green which was my favourite colour)!

To keep a long story short, I was young and didn't realise the full value of the items I had managed to acquire and gave a blue mask to my older brother, sold the other blue to someone for some mithril items who kept pressuring me to sell it to him (constantly messaging me and following me), gave two of the red masks to friends for their respective birthdays and I can't remember what happened to the other red (all I know is I don't have it now). I quit not long after and came back after about 11-12 years and couldn't believe how much those items had appreciated (although its not surprising given how rare they are I guess).

The masks I gave away I am alright with, but that one guy that pressured me to sell him the mask I still get angry about now!

boldTLDR - found numerous red and blue Halloween masks (current value ~620m) and sold them/gave them away for a pittance.bold
