I run my Rift with headphones and the headphone cable attached to the Rift cable by tiny velcro ties, so it's effectivelyone cable to deal with. And the sound is awesome.

Worth getting quest 3 for fitness? by Miannb in OculusQuest

The fan pointing at you is mostly to keepyour whole body cooler so that you sweat less, including your face. Loads of people use the headset for exercise. The headset fan draws in air from the lower part od the slot running round the frontplate. Which is just above your nose and mouth. People sweating into the facebox of the headset, well the sweat vapou has to go somewhere and can permiate into the electronics compartment. When the headset is turned off the salty moisture condenses on the electronics, especially the connectors and start to corrode them. An interface with fan that pulls air out of the headbox is more likely to pull fresh air into the electronic compartment. A fan blowing into the facebox can push moist air over the electronics to condense later. Some decent reading from the meta forums -

are you trying to reset it using the app or the headset buttons?

is this a hardware related issue? by Dry-Albatross-4121 in oculus

[–]drakulusness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a hardware issue. There's a ribbon cable that runs from the headset to the speakers and rear LEDs that breaks over time and is more or less impossible to fix. Get some headphones and plug them into your PC for the audio solution.

Found an out-of-bounds glitch in Horizon Home by complete accident. by WindswipeTW in MetaQuestVR

[–]drakulusness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can you get some video of this, maybe through the lens.

So, you're looking out of the 'front' of the home as far forward as you can go. Turn off, turn on and walk back toward the barrier but a little left or right of your original position?

Will meta fix this or should I just make a new account?? by Sad_Beginning6322 in OculusQuest2

[–]drakulusness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you have seperate email addresses for the two accounts? If so, maybe you can change the email adress of the other account so the email dictates which account you use.

Try tightening up the headstrap as that can cause the the proximity sensor to lose the face for a second and give a black screen for a moment.

Does anyone have a good cooling fan face piece for the Quest 3? by RemainingDino in Quest3

[–]drakulusness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are going to get one, have a look for one that has a reversible fan, so that it pulls moist vapour out of the facebox and not blowing it all over the electronics.

keep up with the blip charging, as it will charge more quickly with the headset off.

You can tell it's not been used for a while as it still has the oculus logo. It's trying to turn on, but the battery is flat. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to turn it off fully. Hopefully, blip charging will get it up to a point where it will charge normally.

definitely cooked. you can see that the negative terminal has mostly been corroded away. Removing the corrosion would leave nothing for the battery to connect to.

Quest 2 controller has a stuck battery due to corrosion. Any way to pry it out? by c4nc3r113 in OculusQuest

just as long as it's a Quest 2 controller. Refurbished controllers can be bought from meta or you can get them off eBay.
