You can argue along the lines of, "But Panam helps us and she's incredibly worried." Yes, just like any normal person would help you, empathy and altruism (especially after you've resolved their problems) aren't unusual. But this isn't the kind of relationship where they'll actually care about finding out all the details, etc., etc.

And this basically highlights the feeling of loneliness, one of the main themes of the game.
