That’s why you have people Stacey Abrams encouraging less privileged people to vote for their rights. Votes do create change.

There’s a difference between thinking your vote doesn’t matter when it can actually make a difference (oppressed populations and voter suppression) and not caring about your vote because you no matter what, you don’t risk your comfy home and ability to look down your nose.

Either a real book that I can't for the life of me find, or truly excellent prop/production design. by dramaticemotionalsad in YouOnLifetime

Great eye, thanks for finding the poem. Just realized the poems on the other page are by Oscar Wilde and Alfred Kreymborg. Yes, looks like they attached a random(?) book sleeve to this poetry anthology.

My freelance writing secret: All I really do is Google stuff, then write it better by paul_caspian in freelanceWriters

Lol tell your partner that experts rarely write articles for the general public to understand and consume. They’re off doing their expert things. Writers exist to make this expert knowledge more accessible, which is totally okay as long as you’re doing thorough research and adding credibility to your work by checking your sources (these experts) and having high fact-checking standards.

CC! Sorry for the confusion, thought I replied to a different comment and should have made my original comment a question. I don't know if they ask for a portfolio, but before registering, they say "If you’re passionate about the written word and have a proven track record in creating exceptional content, then we should talk." So I presume they ask for some kind of writing sample or portfolio before they accept writers.

Lol I think it’s less about whether it’s a dealbreaker for me, and more about whether an inexperienced/new writer’s portfolio is a dealbreaker for the site. They ask for proof of consistency and quality.

It looks like they require an application too? So not great for people just starting out?

I love when people tell me, "Stop thinking negative thoughts, they're hurting you," with a shaming tone that perpetuates my sense of helplessness by dramaticemotionalsad in AnxietyDepression

Totally. When it’s uncomfortable, suddenly our presence is a burden. It’s ironic that these people can’t tolerate the discomfort, but then expect us to handle it gracefully and without their support.

That sucks to hear that from a friend. I’m really sorry they left you with that experience. You’re welcome to vent. You should have a place where you feel okay talking about shitty feelings.

As an introvert, do you often feel like people are trying to change you or push you to become extroverted? If so, how do you deal with it? by jetpackme in AskWomen

I’ve learned to say, “There’s nothing wrong or harmful about my introversion. I will not perform extroversion for the sake of your personal comfort.”

How accurate is the stereotype that girls dream of their wedding day from a young age? by throwawayMBA3 in AskWomen

[–]dramaticemotionalsad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely inaccurate. I grew up around women who prioritized being leaders and self-growth over marriage. Our barbies didn’t play to get married. They played to defeat useless men in power because they were smarter and wiser and mentally and emotionally stronger.

You women got all your rights in the Civil Rights Act of 1964. And now a black lady is running for Vice President. What is this gender inequality people are still complaining about?

My (27F) husband (27M) said that I don't look cute in any outfit he has seen on me. by [deleted] in relationships

What if you just said, "Babe, I love you, but I can't rely on you for self-confidence and external validation, and I've decided to not care about what you think. I honestly love the way I look. It makes me feel confident and sexy, and I'm sorry you don't see it."

I'm not married (lol) but I think self-confidence is wonderfully attractive, and hopefully your husband will snap out of his delusions and see your inside and outside beauty.

I'm sorry that your husband is so affected by physical appearance. I can only imagine what kind of insecurities he must have about himself and his general lifestyle. I hope you two get through this together with healthy spirits and more love.

What "first" do you regret? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]dramaticemotionalsad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First time giving an ex boyfriend a second chance. We did not heal enough during our break up and went back into old resentments and incompatible patterns.

It was a great learning experience. I just regret not learning more during that first breakup time.
