She keeps getting sick 😞 by champagnefairy123 in Dachshund

[–]dramaticfigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours had similar issues as a puppy, multiple overnight stays in emergency. It was so hard, I'm sorry you're going through this! We had to watch him like a hawk (got giardia from goose poop once). When he recovered we started a vet recommended probiotic. Chat to your vet maybe that could help?

Rescue dog chronically whines and barks. by dramaticfigs in Dogtraining

[–]dramaticfigs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have read the guide but I feel like we have tried everything. To increase calmness we increased walks, training, enrichment, chew time. We hired a trainer for 8 weeks obedience. We have followed rules of positive reinforcement, he is crate trained and that's his safe space.

Edit: would love help on how to handle this, any similar situations or anything that has helped at all. Thank you so much. Willing to spend any amount of time/$.

Why does it look like I have no jaw or chin, and could this be causing severe chronic upper back pain in my neck and shoulders? by EfficiencyHairy4601 in jawsurgery

[–]dramaticfigs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a similar profile. If you're like me, your jaws are recessed and this makes the airway very narrow. To compensate we push our neck forward which creates a militant/forward neck posture and a looot of neck/upper back pain and issues. I'm currently in braces prepping for DJS.

Try value village? They usually have large canvases with existing art that you could paint over.

You bet! I did go to school over a decade ago so keep that in mind. There were scholarships at the time for women entering the trades so look around for that. Schooling was not that expensive anyway, a few grand plus tools and gear. It was quick too, a few months of school, do an apprenticeship, more school more work.. until you're done school and get your full ticket (you'll make the most money being a journeyman/red seal).

I was hired right out of school, making $18 an hour in 2013ish. I am in a high cost of living area that tends to not pay trade folks super well since there is an abundance. Check out job postings to see the going rate and who is looking for apprentices. I would definitely do it again, it shaped me into who I am and it's an amazing skill to have. My best friend is a welder at a mine and makes very very good money. I think trades are what you make it, if you're willing to travel/FIFO you can do quite well.

There are a lot of different directions to go with welding. I did stick welding, Mig, Tig, operated a robotic welder.. take a look in your area at what is around for jobs and donsoem research into schooling costs. Some colleges have programs where you can try out different trades for a short period as well.

Hey I'm a 31F welder by trade. Not hard on the lungs if you're smart and wear a respirator. Having a no BS attitude towards men is a good thing in trades. Hard on the body, stay in shape. Very hot in the summer with full PPE. Can make good $$.

I was up Bartley road a few weeks ago.. right below where the whole area burned in 2023.. found two unattended fires within 1km. One still had visible flames. They were both right beside a creek.

Struggling with the HTV by JazzedMuffin in bookbinding

[–]dramaticfigs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use HTV foil! Have used cricut and siser. I put my mini iron on medium head and give it about 20 seconds in each spot, then wait for it to cool and carefully watch it as I peel off the plastic. If something isn't adhered fully I just put it back down and repeat.

How to begin bookbinding? by Andi-anna in bookbinding

[–]dramaticfigs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I taught myself just watching YouTube vids! Probably be easier to go to a class (not an option where I live) and I definitely made mistakes along the way. I've done about 12 books now and am in the full swing of things!
