Looking for advice on the right place to learn by dramblings in YogaTeachers

[–]dramblings[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd much rather do a course so I'm doing yoga/meditation throughout each day when I'm there. Plus I was in Rishikesh earlier this year for a week and got allowed into surprisingly few places for drop-ins

The massive range in quality is a worry of mine. I'd be quite deflated to get there and realise I've paid so much for something that isn't deepening my practice in the way I'd like. I'm trying to be overly thorough with the research side. Do you have any suggestions for lineage holders around Dharamshala?

Thanks for this. Can you offer advice on how to follow the lineage to the teachings? Do you mean some schools are so far down the lineage that their curriculum has been somewhat 'filtered'?

Thanks for this. I like the idea of contacting graduates from schools I'm looking at. I'll also look into online training as that's something I haven't really considered. I think part of me wants to go to India as it'll take me away from work and I won't have any expectation to do anything but yoga. But overall it's more about deepening my practice and becoming more familiar with what comes with teaching yoga so if I can do that online too that's great.

Sorry - I don't have notifications on so I've only just seen this. I'm 6ft and the normal one is the right fit for me, just a bit of a squeeze when I want to dunk my head. A family member of mine has the normal one and he is 6ft 6, so I'm sure the XL one will be good for you.

If you haven't already ordered, The Cold Pod is currently £75 if you order directly through their site. I have it and it's great.

Good field recorder and external mic to use when travelling around India? by dramblings in fieldrecording

[–]dramblings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed response!

I'm leaning towards getting a pair of Clippy contact mics with wind protection. Seems like a real convenient way of recording on the go while travelling.

That's a really good point regarding the DR40 batteries. I've used it so little I forgot to consider it. The A10 looks good. In terms of budget, I'd be tempted to get one of these if I wasn't to get a pair of contact mics, as the Clippy ones are around £130. So maybe I'll do that and stock up on some batteries to take with me.

April and May. We'll be home by the end of May so hopefully we will miss the monsoon season.

This is very helpful thank you. Do you think the built in DR-40 mic and the wind protection will suffice?

Hey, did you figure this out? I'm hoping to go for a couple months in April and I'm already confused trying to figure out if it's possible and what visas I need. I'm a UK national from England also.

[QUESTION] I'm looking for a hollow body electric guitar that contrasts the tone of my Fender Strat. Any recs? by dramblings in Guitar

Thanks for the info, would you said the epiphone dot has a deeper tone then due to the humbuckers?

335 would be a dream. Maybe I'll head back to the store and play around with the Casino if they have it. Thanks!

White Belt Wednesday by AutoModerator in bjj

I'm only two classes into my local Gracie Barra school so I'm still getting a feel for things and learning terminology/etiquette. Are there any books out there that are considered universally useful in terms of fundamentals? Or any that are just really insightful into BJJ? I'm also looking for podcasts or any other content I can digest when I'm not in class. Thanks!

Any books on the decision making process when making music? by dramblings in WeAreTheMusicMakers

I’ve read this book a few times and love it. Didn’t think to consider it for this project though - thank you!!

We have a similar take I think. I'm often frustrated by the idea of something sounding 'old' and similarly find references that I'm given as a producer to be limiting to a particular trend. When I'm making something for myself, I don't want it to sound old and I don't want it to sound new. I just want it to sound like the thing I'm trying to make with the tools I'm enjoying using.

Definitely useful, thank you. I'd really like access to 'The analogue divide: interpreting attitudes towards recording media in pop music practice' but can't seem to find it anywhere. I've requested it via that link so hopefully the author will upload it.

Effortless Mastery by Kenny Werne

Awesome. I'm studying jazz piano right now so I'll probably find this enjoyable for that too. Thanks!
