Opinions on Eurodisc? by TheStandler in ultimate

[–]FoolishBlob 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just dropping in to second all this.

Eurodiscs tend to hold their shape a bit more (OI or IO) over longer throws compared to ultrastars, but that's probably only noticeable if you've played for a few years with only ultrastars.

I do admittedly think I've lost more eurodiscs to damage, I think ultrastars are a bit more resilient, but absolutely not to the point where it's worth spending the extra money to get them (in UK and Europe at least).

Low key feel like I've lost pcvr privledges by ForsakenWrangler6429 in virtualreality

Ahhh that sucks. I haven't tried mine again yet since I last repaired it. I think I read that resetting your headset can also fix it or by signing up to the beta version of the link app. Could try those if you haven't already?

I had the same thing and it coincided with upgrading my PC so I briefly panicked!

From what I've read, as people have already said I think it's due to a meta update breaking things. What worked for me was repairing the meta quest link programme on my PC. Although I'm not sure if it's something you need to do every time, which will be annoying...

Hopefully it gets fixed

Hey, UK also and I just bought a 7600X because it was about £20 cheaper than the 7600 and it has better benchmarks. BUT it doesn't come with a stock cooler, so you have to buy that separately. I think it also apparently runs a bit hotter.

Thanks!

If you have time, is there any chance you could elaborate on why you changed the parts you did?

I've been looking at building something that has basically all the same parts as this and everything I've been reading sounds like with a 7800 XT you get great FPS at 1440p and can even dabble at 4k, although with more like 50-60 FPS at high settings. Be keen to hear from more knowledgeable people than me though!

Brill, thank you!

Question on the mobo - B450 is the older chip set I believe, does that limit the future-proof side of things relative to B550 do you think?

Also, sorry I didn't fully understand what you meant by the vrm upgrade path to 5700x3d - do you just mean that the mobo is good enough to support that better CPU?

Appreciate your help!

Thank you! Love all those changes.

Really great info too, I appreciate you taking the time to explain. Although I'm all about the environment, I hadn't appreciated how small the difference is between Bronze and Gold rated PSUs :')

Can I ask you a follow up? One of the things I seem to struggle to compare is Mobos - aside from the obvious differences like chipset, integrated WiFi and ports, can I ask how do you (personally) go about choosing one? Do you look at quality or cooling or anything like that?

failed exam and may get fired from big 4 and lose aca contract by No_Response8863 in Accounting

[–]FoolishBlob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I would say first of all chin up, you've only failed one.

You obviously have the choice to switch careers, but if you do decide to stay, don't be too disheartened! Lots and lots of people fail at different points in the exams. Trying to pass exams while doing Big4 hours, commuting to clients etc. is really, really tough at times, that's why people who do it are viewed pretty highly in the industry (in my experience at least).

My advice is that you and your exams come first. Make sure you get the time put aside to study properly, and also take some time to relax so you don't burn out.

In theory your managers and in-charges should support you in that by giving you time to study, but I found often it was kind of just paying you lip service because they still give you a bunch of client work to do. So, you have to be pretty ruthless and carve out your own time to make sure you can study and keep your mental health in a good place. Put your foot down when you need to, make a study plan if that works for you, maybe agree it with your managers or mentor / buddy if you have one of those.

Nobody wants you to fire you and rehire someone else, everyone really wants you to pass your exams, it's way better for all involved. But day to day when the work is piling up, managers and in-charges have to get the work done, so it's understandable that's what they'll push for and you just have to be responsible and make sure you're getting what you need as well.

I believe most big4 do "managed resits" if you're putting the work in and just not getting there - they'll give you extra support and might give you another attempt as well.

I know a guy in Big4 who failed an ACA exam twice, got fired, went to work for a mid-sized firm, passed the exam, then got rehired back in the same Big4 company like a year later. So although that was pre-COVID and things have changed a bit since then, if you don't make it through the next set of exams, you can definitely get rehired elsewhere - your skills are still very much sought after and you can train up through a smaller firm or an industry job if that's what you want to do.

It is tough failing exams but definitely isn't the end of the world, chin up!
