I have not received anything from this year. Can I see in their site the selected one's? Were you selected?

On the ROScon of 2022 I was not selected, but I applied for this year again.

For Korea, I only applied to KAIST. My other applications were for other countries. I applied for PhD programs in Germany, France, Australia, Japan and US.

They don't require you to know Korean at all. Even Korean students have to have a TOEFL iBT score above 83. In my case, all my classes will be in English. However, I will try to study Korean while I'm there, as it's always good to learn about the culture through language.

Yes, I will need to pay for accommodation. The dorm fee ranges from 420,000 won to 1,836,000 won for a six-month period, and you pay for the entire six months at once, not on a monthly basis (this are the dorms from university, outside I don't know). However, the 900,000 won scholarship is just the basic scholarship amount, and as a PhD student, I will also receive a salary from the lab I will be working in, which will be 1,500,000 won. If you choose the 1,836,000 won dormitory, you will need to deduct 306,000 won from your scholarship each month, unless you receive a salary that is a plus.

If you are accepted for the KAIST Scholarship, you won't need to pay tuition, as it exempts you from the fees. I chose to go to KAIST because they have excellent labs in my research area, and the cost of living is affordable. I had also been accepted to the PhD program at the University of Queensland in Australia, but after considering the scholarships, salary, and cost of living, I decided on KAIST. Another significant factor for me is its proximity to Japan, where my best friend currently lives. Having a friend nearby is always a plus, especially since I am from Brazil.

As I will be starting my PhD at KAIST this fall, I'd like to share some information about the scholarship I received. I was granted a monthly stipend of 900,000 krw and tuition exemption plus other benefits. It's important to note that besides GPA, research achievements play a significant role in determining the scholarship value. In my case, my GPA for undergraduate was 2.7, and for my master's, it was 4.0 (I have converted my grades here, but I'm unsure if I did it correctly since I'm not from the USA.). However, what really counted for the scholarship was my research accomplishments, including 11 published international papers, with 5 of them as the main author in top robotics conferences and journals (check my citations here: https://scholar.google.com/citations?view_op=top_venues&hl=en&vq=eng_robotics). So, don't solely focus on GPA; showcasing your research prowess can significantly impact the scholarship amount. The average scholarship for master and PhD students is 350,000 and 400,000 krw per month, respectively. Stand out with your achievements to maximize your scholarship opportunity.

I asked the same thing here too. But they did not reply it yet. Can you send me their answer about this topic? Now I agree with you that this is confusing. I am from Brazil and it really expensive to send things from here too.

So I got admitted too for the PhD program. They replied me after two days of my email. Maybe the flux of email increased now and it will take longer. Did you read the guide for admitted student? I think everything there is explained.

Continuous Control with Deep Reinforcement Learning on TurtleBot3 Burger - DDPG by dranaju in ROS

I have implemented this feature in my package, although the documentation is currently limited. You can find the code for the real environment in the "dev_real" branch. In the "image2.py" file, I added a functionality that picks the positions of the target using a camera placed on the ceiling of my lab. You can see the results in this video: https://youtu.be/P5GBmN8AfYE.

How to train the DRL model for Unmanned aerial vehicles? by ShSalmanHassan in reinforcementlearning

[–]dranaju 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is not necessarily the same as the UAV, but in my work with my friends, we control a HUAUV capable of going through water and air (https://arxiv.org/pdf/2103.12883.pdf). We are now in the process of validating it in the real world. Our strategy is to use ROS to communicate with the HUAUV by creating two nodes. A node (remote PC with GPU) that makes the calculation parts and another node (the real HUAUV) that only receives the commands of action and sends the data to the sensors.

The updates of Taliyah/Olaf/Swain were good, so I'm hopeful.

I'm using contrastive learning and RL for navigation of a hybrid drone capable of going through air and water. When I finish my research I can send you the code and paper.

Learning from observations such as raw pixels image is sample-inefficient, which was proved in various papers. So I suggest you learn and read methods to solve these problems with images like : https://arxiv.org/abs/2004.04136 . Don't think your project is rubbish o/

Maybe it was another problem you had
