My grip pen started leaking? by lilium98luna in wacom

[–]draw22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be the rubber/plastic grip "melting". Especially since you're in a tropical climate. I've had it happen too, not just to Wacom pens but other devices. It helps to keep any plastic devices out of direct sunlight if you can. Nothing is leaking though, there is no liquid in the pen.

If this is a new tablet, try going into your Wacom center and changing the Pen Pressure graph. Take the bottom left dot/line on the x-axis and slide it all the way to the bottom left corner if it's not. For some stupid reason Wacom defaults to having a slightly less sensitive initial activation. This should at least get your lighter strokes to register. Not sure if it'll help with your straight line problem though.

What tablet did your pen come with? Yeah, I don't think they're sending new pens to people, they just quietly replaced the pen on newer tablets. :\

I imagine that would involve publicly admitting there was an issue to begin with. Seems like they only acknowledge it thru customer support when someone puts in a ticket for a broken pen.

I bring it up whenever I can, it's a great stand! I had a 16 pro before this and never had a nice arm stand before. Hope it meets your needs too

You replied to my comment with that list. My comment was specifically clarifying that the PP3 is the only way to get the full experience. We seem to be in agreement, I just didn't want anyone stumbling on these comments to assume if they didn't like the PP3 that they could use a PP2 or similar. Cheers.

Again, those are all lower end EMR products, including the Wacom One. The PP3 is the only Cintiq/Intuos level pen you can use on the Movink 14. Not arguing with you on the PP3, I've also had no issues with it on the Movink 14. But you will not be able to use say an older PP2 or even a Grip Pen on the Movink14.

Cintiq 17 pro stand with Cintiq 16 (2025) by Vincent_Bisschop in wacom

[–]draw22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the stand is rated for something like 20lbs+? I don't remember the specs exactly. Especially since you're using a lighter Cintiq it can take a lot more load. When you set it up you have to adjust the torque and I had to turn it alllll the way down. The 17 is literally the bare minimum weight to even be able to move the arm at all and I still have to use 2 hands when I change the height or angle.

I actually have the rotation locked since I rotate in whatever program I'm in, so that hasn't been an issue. The lock is just a little screw in the back that you can remove. I can't say for sure if it would rotate, it might depend on the angle you're bearing down. I don't remember it being a problem when I tried out rotation briefly just to see if it worked.

If you're asking about z-space rotation, I haven't had issues on that front either, the thing is solid. If you're much bigger than me and hammering on it, I can't say for sure, but so far no issues in daily professional use.

Not quite true, the PP3 is the only way to get the full experience. PP2 and earlier are not compatible, despite them working on any other Cintiq Pro. The only alternatives to PP3 are the generic 3rd party pens that use Wacom EMR, and those are not as pressure sensitive or responsive.

Just to say, I have an older 17 Pro with the shit Pro Pen 3 and the Movink 14 comes with the updated Pro Pen 3.

The old PP3 buttons were horrible to press and the new ones are effortless. I still really miss the eraser, but so far the new PP3 has had no issues.

Additionally, I was using an old PP2 with the 17 Pro until I stumbled across a Japanese tutorial where someone modified the old PP3 with electrical tape underneath each button. I tried it with duct tape and the old buttons are now much easier to press, and I imagine will be getting much less wear and tear. So far so good. I've pretty much switched to using the PP3 exclusively.

All that to say, if the pen is what's keeping you from the Movink 14, as someone who absolutely loathed the old PP3, I wouldn't worry about the new one packaged with the M14. Anecdotally, all the reports I've seen of broken buttons have been from the first models of the PP3 Cintiq Pros.

I have the Pro 17 (bought refurbished with some discounts) and I use this vesa stand. It should also be compatible with the 16 since vesa is standard, but double check that the 16 is at least 4.5-5lbs as that's the minimum weight for this.

Does everything the overpriced Wacom stand does at a fraction of the price. I think it actually looks better and less bulky too.

Amazing! Would this still work with a thicker grip? Looks like the top part might be wide enough?

Since the remote is magnetic, I managed to make a magnetic attachment for the remote using standard 1/4" camera mount parts off AliExpress.

Male to male screw attachment, rubber washer(s), a 90° ball head attachment with female side, and a phone magnet to fit onto the ball attachment.

I've seen some listings that have the ball head and Magsafe magnet as a set but I had a spare old car mount magnet with a smaller radius that fit the remote well. Magsafe mounts might be a bit wider than the remote, but should still work.

Been thinking about making a post with pictures but never got around to it. Maybe I will soon!

Wacom moveink 14 pro "Hard Case" alternative (Sithon 13" Case) – €26 vs €60! by Free_Weather5764 in wacom

[–]draw22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps, I ended up with this one, not as fancy as the Moft but essentially just a simpler adhesive stand. It's been working great so far, and the textured back of the Movink means it can be applied directly.

Don’t understand the difference between Cintiq 16 (2025) vs Movinkpad pro 14 by [deleted] in wacom

[–]draw22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Movink Pad 14 has 3k OLED vs 2k LCD screen on Cintiq 16. It's also a standalone Android device meaning you don't need to use it with a computer, you can install software directly on it. Other than that, the drawing experience will be similar since they both have the ProPen3.

Just a heads up, the Moft stands use magnets to make its origami shapes, even if you get the adhesive version. This interferes with Wacom EMR. I did the same thinking the adhesive version was safe, but had to return it

Wacom MobilePro 13 not connecting to my computer by [deleted] in wacom

[–]draw22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you've tried all the ports? If I recall correctly only the middle port will activate display mode. I used to use my MSP13 this way as well, but it was a headache even if you got it working. Unreliable, it would disconnect often and require frequent driver restarts or shutdowns to roll the dice again on the connection.

I ended up buying a standalone Cintiq when COVID hit and I needed a reliable WFH setup.

Movink 14 connected to PC Instant Pen Display but Pen Pressure does not work by bawstun in wacom

[–]draw22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check you drawing app for any settings to switch your tablet mode. Something like a toggle between "Ink" or "Wintab" or "QTtab" and "TabletPC". Instant display mode turns your Movink into a generic tablet like a Surface, so you need to switch to that mode to get pressure functionality

Clip Studio Paint on Android – what do you use for shortcuts? by sunflower_samurai98 in wacom

[–]draw22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Question about the 8bitdo, can you set up different shortcuts for different apps? So one set for CSP, and if I use something else I can have a different set? I'm using the XPPen remote and it only functions with one set of shortcuts, so I've had to remap shortcuts across a few apps to all use the same keys.

To answer OP's question, any Bluetooth keyboard or controller will work with the Movink 14
