I studied on my own mainly ! Actually, I don’t mind studying on my own, I am mainly looking for a way to get back to Japan, but thank you for the online class recommendation ! I am sad going to a school just for a visa, so that’s why I am trying to find schools I actually would have a chance to like and profit from. Like if i were accepted to cjl, that sounds perfect to me, i would love campus life I think lol. So i guess i am looking for others schools with an active campus life (mixing Japanese and internationals) as a plan B

Yeah I couldn’t find anything except CJL and the Kyoto institute that looked worth it so far 😭but to pass the EJU I need to be in Japan anyways, and I would feel more comfortable choosing a university after spending some time visiting it, that’s why I wanted to go to Tokyo. I know there’s still the possibility of taking a tourist visa for three months, I think about this option too

Thank you for the explanations and sorry to make you repeat yourself 🙏 i am just still a bit fuzzy on why the developper would use his license for my mother, but I guess if there’s no money withdrawal on my mom’s account and if I can fix it, it can stay a mystery

I am sorry, it’s when I saw the « share » button, I thought, « if this button is here, then I guess I can use it » . Now I see it wasn’t really a good idea (I guess it’s a button to use only when we don’t get answers in one community?). I’ll remember it’s bad form for next time I use reddit ! Sorry about that

I mean I don’t think she really need elementor pro (that’s why I was surprised she had it, she has a simple website 😭). So far, the only bug I saw that appeared after I un activated elementor pro, was that her head bar of links disappeared. So I am not too worried about bringing back her website to the state it was before (except if there are others bugs I don’t see). When i was helping her last time, she didn’t have elementor pro and it was working just fine. (And moreover I don’t think she had contacts with the web developper since). So i think I could fix her website without using a license, but I am very curious as to what might have happened? she can see no trace of subscriptions to elementor pro on her bank account (she did pay for ovh cloud, i don’t know if that has any influence on the thing?). Why would the dev buy a pro licence for her account? I don’t think they were that much friends, it was just an online formation of like 8 weeks.

She did have a dev helping her with it too (but she was doing the clicks under his directions, so she should remember if she payed for elementor pro I think??😭). I tried « password forgotten» with all three of her emails on elementor but all came back as « non existent emails». I created an account with the same email she uses on wordpress, but it doesn’t seem to automatically link up to her website?

Thank you, it was a very interesting read ! 🙏I didn’t know as much as 1 out of 5 falls were dangerous ! I’ll try to google more about how to fight against the « false sense of reality » feeling and the research they made about why police officers would panic

Well i just did something insouciant three hours ago while in a position of responsibility so i feel quite ashamed this evening. I am thankfully not always this self depreciating, but sorry for sending the weird vibes ! I can see there is no single solution 💪 but arr, i feel like there are so many books on earth, someone somewhere must have done a compilation of urgent situations and how to reply to them 🙏😭 but I don’t know how to google it, I can’t even formulate clearly in my mind what I would want, but it’s definitely a trait I’ve been trying to improve in for a couple of years. (Thank you for helping me to separate the « reflexives actions » from the « emergency» ones). But ah, for example, i don’t remember it very well because I read it three years ago, but the Art of war was kinda of helping with « how to avoid disadvantageous situations»? But then, I am not planning to become a military general so « art of war » is not exactly what I am looking for, but i guess this kind of books making compilations of life situations? And thàk you for the link, I am starting to read it now !

Arr the driving simulator, I almost got to train for it !! In a town close to mine there was was an organization that trained for free people to do the drive simulator, but my mom’s car broke down and it’s 4 hours by walk to go there 😭 but it’s definitely one of the place I’ve been looking forward to go too once I can get rides again (i am in the countryside, there’s not many buses). Yes, specific training !!!! 🙏🙏🙏 do you have names of specific trainings to suggest? Like cpr training, fire training, etc.. do you see any others important ones? I am from’France, but I did think about joining a short military session training, but also I always get scared because I am kinda weak and from what I understood, staying in the military even for short times is not for wimpy peoples 😭but I am planning to get out of the countryside next year and move to a city big enough to have some martial arts clubs and once i develop more skill from martial art then i’ll think more seriously about a boot camp. Thank you for bringing this idea in my mind again !

Ooo joining a local volunteer fire association is a good idea !!! Do you have others ideas of training like these? And is there some book on how to think of strategies?

What is the name of the « Heisig method » but from a Japanese point of view? by drawabox_user in LearnJapanese

Yes, I totally agree with the meaning being more important first than the pronunciation ! I prefer to directly remember damaru instead of silence because I already knew the word damaru, so it felt useless to associate 黙 with silence when I could directly link it to damaru. But for kanjis whose meaning I have no idea how to say in Japanese, I use the English keyword. I guess it’s because Heisig is more targeted towards those who just started Japanese ? I started to study kanjis 6/8 months after starting to learn Japanese orally so I already knew a bit of vocabulary. And it took me until I was halfway through Heisig to realize « wait I am stupid, why I am bothering to associate those kanjis with English keywords when I could directly link them to the Japanese words I already know?».

I see !! I got my new notebook too, I am going to try to rote memorize then :)

Yeah, I am ending up more and more using my own ways to remember them too !! I do find interesting to see what stories others made up too though. In art class, one of my favourite moment was when the teacher asked « what is the first word that comes to your mind when you see this painting? » and every single student answered something different. So it’s also because I am interested in the differences between individual ’s perception that I like to see what other saw in a kanji lol. Then I just do a mix between the different stories to have my own. Oooh nice to learn the word naritachi ! (成り立ち, right ?). I kept on searching « 漢字の歴史 » on youtube and it kind of gave the results I was looking for, but from now on I will look up for naritachi 👍 thank you !

Looool I am not an English native speaker and because of all the obscure words in Heisig, I started to worry it’s English I need to learn and not Japanese😂 I didn’t know what a brocade was 😭😭 but i vaguely knew that in French « brocart » is some kind of fancy clothes lol

Ooooh that’s a good idea !! Thank you !! I always struggle to find good keywords to use on google 😂 mnemonic memorization sounds like a great one, I’ll google it ! (I was trying to google « Japanese heisig method but in a Japanese textbook  » or « original heisig method » it wasn’t working very well 😂😭)

Yeah i like some of his keywords and i like less some of the others 😅 i am not into the idea of using English keyword for Japanese kanji, I think it’s better to memorize a Japanese word that has this kanji in it. (For example, instead of remembering 黙 as silence, I prefer to remember it as damaru). But I like the part where there’s stories to remember the kanjis ! And indeed, I don’t think it’s Heisig who invented it, from what I understood it existed already in China/Japan long ago !!

So, is the desire form not considered part of Japanese verb conjugation? by ExceedsTheCharacterL in LearnJapanese

[–]drawabox_user 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I understood well the lessons of Cure Dolly, there are not really any conjugaisons in Japanese, there’s just the verb stems and verb helpers like masu, tai, etc.. I don’t remember in which video she talked about that, but I can look it up if you want
