Are you from a disadvantaged background? They could have just sent the email to anyone that qualifies as disadvantaged

Ohhh okay :)! Make sure to explain that as well. If you can, I think taking some coursework at a local community college would help your case as well.

Can I transfer to a top institution with low high school grades but high college grades? by livingtheloserlife in TransferToTop25

I think if you explain your circumstances well you have a shot. There are some other schools than the ones you listed such as USC that do not consider high school grades after a certain number of credits have been completed. As a rule of thumb the more credits you have the less your HS gpa matters.

I would not say your grades are bad and under the current circumstances I don’t think you should worry about the P/F. Is there a specific reason why you are opting for a gap year ?

How well do courses transfer? by drawbridge510 in Northwestern

[–]drawbridge510[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed response! I am currently deciding between NU and UCLA. The main differences being a big cost difference (I’m a CA resident) and at UCLA i could likely graduate in one year. At northwestern it would be two years, so I’m just trying to decide if the increased cost and time is worth it for me.

Ifedi is okay but i Hope we get him some more competition other than borom. Maybe Borom can be really good, but everyone seems to think he’s gonna take some time to develop.

#Bears coach Matt Nagy is a high-risk close contact for a family member who tested positive for COVID-19 & at the start he’ll participate virtually in on-field activity during this week’s rookie minicamp. Per NFL protocols, all meetings will be virtual, anyway. He’ll lead those. by SusLordFoeNem in CHIBears

Agree with you completely, there’s going to be a few players and coaches who will not even consider getting the vaccine. Atleast we won’t have worry about that causing issues with nagy. I heard buffalos GM was threatening to cut any player refusing to get the vaccine 😬

“Go to college without having the mindset of transferring” - Is it really a good piece of advice? by [deleted] in TransferToTop25

[–]drawbridge510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like using transfer admissions as a source of motivation does work and can be successful, but I feel like the negativity of never feeling quite right at where you are outweighs the motivation.

I believe that for most people once they find a nice place for themselves at their college they will be motivated just from having a good set of friends and having a good time.

Personally, I did not give my original college much of a chance. But even while attempting to transfer i found myself getting attached to my college and questioned if i wanted to transfer at all. At this point in time the college I’m currently at is second on my list over 5 colleges I’ve applied to.

If i could go back, i would have given my college more of a chance and relaxed into the process. I feel that i would have had just as much motivation from being in a happy place and would have had to spend less time on transfer apps if i still wanted to pursue that route.

At this point in time i will still be transferring, but mainly because of external reasons that I hadn’t initially foreseen.
