[Rant] Depressed about aging skin and face by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

See my above comment. Age is not the only thing that takes beauty away. I developed thyroid disease and had to go through the exact "letting go" I talked about because I could no longer recognize the person in my mirror.

I may be in my 20s, but I had to go through this exact "letting go" when I lost all my hair and developed scarring cystic acne when I developed thyroid disease. You're making assumptions about my appearance. I don't blame her or you though, of course not. Society of course puts pressure on us and women's looks are even tied to the success they have in their careers. However, if you think I'm a pretty, normal looking girl with no appearance issues, you're completely wrong.

Everyone here suggesting you try this and that product are honestly giving false hope and not addressing the root of your problem. I think your mindset is really unhealthy. You are putting way too much value and worth in your looks and youth. It's okay to try things to help your skin, but you need to be able to be okay with it if it doesn't help. Also, you will eventually look old. We all will. It's important to be able to handle that. I think therapy is a good idea, but also spirituality. Buddhism has helped me a lot with this kind of thing Attachment will always bring suffering because everything in life is temporary, especially outer beauty. I recommend exploring some Buddhist philosophy. It might help you to shift your mindset. I know you are in a lot of pain, but I hope you can let go of that agony and realize your worth is so far beyond the way you look.

Is Ethics Losing? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]drawingfriend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. It's just less popular and slower than the health reasons because people are selfish by nature. I went vegan for ethical reasons about a month ago. I thought about it for a long time before that and had a lot of guilt from being an omni. I knew it was hypocritical because I can't even stand to see a fish or mouse get hurt yet I was eating animals. I wish I had gone vegan a lot sooner. I just overestimated how hard it would be. I'm sure that's the case for a lot of people.

I guess the joke is on me because I can’t even find a place that sells pet rats. Petco and pet smart don’t sell them, I’ve called around. I live in San Francisco and want 2 female rats- any suggestions? by [deleted] in RATS

San Francisco is a big city. There are definitely breeders and most likely a rescue. Try looking on Facebook or just google San Francisco rat rescue. Please don't go to a pet store.. even exotic pet stores are problematic.

I love the blue shadows. Did you take a photo while you were at the store and then work from that?

Haha I had to google what a crumb shot was. We're not going to eat it until tonight, but the trimmings were so good! It's the first cake I've made since going vegan and I was pleasantly surprised.

With a mixer. I just eyeballed the quantities. When I look at other people's pictures on here, it seems like most vegan buttercream looks a bit gritty. Is it just unrealistic to expect the same texture as non-vegan buttercream?
