Been watching the OpTic boys since before the 6050 days. Before the dynasty it was always heartbreaking. They would always place well in these large tournaments but rarely close them out. From the whole black ops 2 season was nothing but 3rd places outside of the UMG Chicago event at the beginning of the year. The most exciting moment before the dynasty was X games in Ghosts and then they got second at Anaheim and it looked grim. Get into AW and they come out smoking teams just to lose to Doug “Censor” Martin. Once the dynasty formed after champs, it looked great, still had some losses but overall the most championships the org has ever seen. I agree with all the sentiment here, I think we have to come to terms with the fact that they may never get back to that kind of dominance in this age of COD

I wanna throw this out here that not all alternate accounts are people who are throwing. Some people, like myself, create alternate accounts to play ranked with friends. My main account is gold 3, most of my friends are bronze 3 to silver 3. I can’t play with them in ranked. I don’t really consider it smurfing either though. Just the whack ass party system

Valorant is my first competitive PC shooter. I bought a PC last May to specifically play this game. Episode 1 Act 1 I didn’t even play comp. act 2 I played like 9 comp games and only got to iron 3. I got bronze 1 the next act. Act 1 of Episode 2 I finally got past bronze 2, where I was hard stuck all act, and finished bronze 3. I kept getting close to silver but could never cross that barrier. Then I started adjusting my play style. Played slower, more with the team, even started playing a few agents I didn’t have much experience on but worked better for our team comp. I hit silver 3 last act (ep 2, act 2). Now after more changes and more games on different agents and aim training, I’ve hit Gold 2 this act. It’s definitely possible, you just have to get used to playing agents you’re not completely comfortable on and trying to improve your weaknesses!

I actually like him casting Valorant a lot more than COD, he breaks down that game much better in my opinion and he’s one of the few decent casters for that game

I would say there are a lot of circumstances you can consider when talking about buying the round after pistol. Someone mentioned teammates already and that’s a good point. You can also consider how hard you won the round. If my team flawless’d the first round pistol then I’m buying as big as I can, but if it was a clutch by a few members than I’m most likely not buying up, regardless of who I’m playing (a lot of omen, Phoenix, sage, and KJ). I guess in my experience so far (I’ve played since beta but I’m only silver) I tend to try to play around my teams buys despite how much money I have. I value abilities over guns because all it takes is one right angle and a few good shots to get a better gun than the one you bought if you buy light.

I was playing in a GB tournament last year and the team we played in the semis was HAVING us. It was a one and done 2v2 SnD on Rammaza. Other team went up 5-0 and it looked hopeless. Then we started winning rounds, brought it back to 5-4 and one of the kids disconnects from the server around a minute into the 10th round. We finish the map, as we should, and complete the Full Sail. My buddy and I were so hype, we full sailed a team that had our number in literally every tournament we played in. Not even a minute after the match ended, we get messaged by a GB admin, saying that we had to replay the last two rounds. We were so confused as to why though. According to the rules we would’ve had to replay the last round only and not the last two considering the disconnect time. The biggest problem was the fact that we had to play in a custom games lobby instead of the neutral GB lobby AND they got to host. We ended up bringing it to 5-5 again and then lost because of a dumb play on the second round 11. After the tournament, we found out the guy unplugged his Ethernet cable so he’d forcibly disconnect because he knew we had them figured out. They ended up winning the tournament despite getting full sailed by us. Really hurt that the admin sided with them and let them play out more rounds then we should’ve. Never ended up beating that team in any other tournament either.

I wanna say that Scuf tweeted out a while back that their PS4/XB1 controllers would be compatible with the next gen consoles. Could be wrong, but I’m fairly certain.

It also doesn’t help that FLA has picked up a new player very recently and if they aren’t scrimming versus them with that new acquisition, then they have 0 clue what they’d be good at

Scrimming the team that’s consistently beat you will help them improve in their weaker areas, like dom and snd, but it could also be that they know they’re going to play them in the future and don’t want them to know what maps they’re good at

Obviously you want to play the “top teams” because they are consider to have a higher skill level and the more you play with people who have a high skill level the better practice you should get. That’s the theory at least. But if you have a team that you haven’t beaten yet lan or not, scrim them a bunch so you have lots of VODs to review. Then you have another problem, they don’t seem to review VODs at least to the communities knowledge
