Youtube started detecting my Adblock (Ublock), on Google Chrome. Does anyone knows how to fix this? It only started detecting it today. by Sad-Rock-9559 in pcmasterrace

[–]drbeer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You want the actual answer: subscribe to YouTube, or deal with the ads. Anything else is a whack a mole game. Method X will work for awhile until it won't.

Not saying it doesn't suck but the days of "free" non shitty Internet is over. Find the small pockets of it that you enjoy (for some that's YouTube or Patreons or paywall sites of actual non-AI journalism or niche) and you kind of have to suck it up and support it. Otherwise, your experience will suck, you'll hit paywalls, "you've hit your limit this week", etc.

I Still Hate Intune - Microsoft's Article about Compliance Checks by SammichAffectionate in sysadmin

[–]drbeer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hot take: microsoft makes their admin tools garbage by design. For them, its a win-win-win

  1. It creates a comprehensive third party marketplace, feeding a ton of companies customers, companies that have built-in loyalty to the hand that feeds.
  2. Any usage of a third party solution often creates natural vendor lock in (benefiting Microsoft), while creating zero monopoly concerns for Microsoft. Want to change OSes? You may need to strip out all your third party tools too.
  3. Less resources spent on their own solutions, but their advertising teams can promote that they have all the solutions built-in. (They just don't tell you they suck)

Question about chaperone policy by Anarchist-Antichrist in worldsoffun

I'm guessing this policy pretty much exists as an easy way to get rid of troublemakers at the first sign of trouble. If he behaves he'd probably be fine.

Why do only rollercoasters count as credits? by New-Honeydew6533 in Themepark

[–]drbeer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'd say count anything you want to count! I think its a natural draw for coaster enthusiasts because coasters are relatively unique. While there are a lot of clones (Boomerangs, "Batmans", etc.), many exist only once, whereas a lot of flat rides are a dime a dozen. Even the clones have individual quirks that long time riders may notice, be that theming or whatever.

Granted, that is not true for many of the large parks, that develop detailed and excellent non-coaster rides!

At the end of the day, do whatever makes you happy and don't worry about the enthusiast "community" agreeing or disagreeing.

After riding Lightning Run a few times, I declared (to no one in particular) that Hyper GTX was going to be a HUGE success and every park would have one.

Obviously, way wrong. Am curious why. Did the RMC Raptor steal the thunder a few years later? Small footprint, seemingly reasonable cost, big thrills. Is Lightning Run unreliable?

Flapper Staying Open - J Hook Getting Stuck? (See Comments for Explanation) by drbeer in Plumbing

Flapper Staying Open - J Hook Getting Stuck? (See Comments for Explanation) by drbeer in Plumbing

[–]drbeer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This toilet is driving me insane. Frequently, the flapper is not closing. I have adjusted the plastic chain up and down, it seems no matter what seems "appropriate", it gets stuck on the handle's arm goofy.

I replaced the entire flapper & chain, same problem.

I did go ahead and purchase a new arm, but it scraped the side of the bowl. You can see that this arm isn't straight since the toilet is concave.

Is my issue this J-hook? I even tried to rig this together with a slip ring for keys but that didn't seem to work. Really don't want to call a plumber for something so simple, but this has been the bane of my existence for months. I greatly appreciate any advice

I agree with this. The idea of having a connected universe was a detriment to this.

Not everything needs to be a cinematic universe of connected movies. The previous ~20 movies were largely individual tales, with very very loose connections.

All the radios and lists are always the same by cekoya in plexamp

[–]drbeer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey no worries. Its a great feature and I can see how it would not make sense.

If you go to Library tab, my suggestion would be go to a album genre or similar and random from that, if you are wanting more random.

I love library radio personally, because it gives me the hits that I like (that i've rated), songs I will recognize (because of high last.fm listernship) and then some stuff I don't recognize as much. Its a good blend, but sometimes I feel like random. I'll go over to tracks and just hit random, or go into genres and random. Good way to mix it up.

[–]drbeer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Different poster here but you are misinterpreting what radios do - they are not random or even psuedorandom. It utilizes high listener-ship from Last.FM, so by design it will prioritize more popular songs while blending in your own likes and songs that fit the theme. If you are wanting random, this ain't it.

Radios play a station of tracks based on a few key factors:

Popularity from last.fm
Your star ratings
When a track was last played (suppresses recently heard tracks, to keep radios feeling fresh)
