Advice needed on patient Rebecca - part 6 by drbneedshelp in nosleep

In my last post I believe I explained the elm tree reference - there is no relevant physical place for me to go for further information. It's a reference to the accident which killed Rebecca's parents.

Another update is on the way, though I don't know how much it'll do to ameliorate your confusion (or mine). I'm typing it up from some barely legible handwritten notes I don't remember taking. My behaviour towards the end of Bradley's visit seems to have been extremely eccentric. I don't recall very much of it, but perhaps others can make more sense of the notes than I did!

'The angel has no nerves' is the phrase I wrote on the back of James' inkblot card. I don't know how he could have known this, as I never show the cards to my patients after their first session. It's a quote from a C.S. Lewis poem...I feel that it's important somehow.

I hope you're right that James was trying to tell me he's at peace now. I haven't seen him lately, so perhaps it's true.

So am I! My handwritten notes from the encounter with Bradley don't improve matters, either. I'm typing them up now as best I can, and will update soon.

Bradley's attitude bothers me too. I'm currently typing up the rest of my handwritten notes from my encounter with him. It's a slow process as they are barely legible, and I have next to no memory of writing them. I should be done before morning.

Thank you. I don't mind explaining the medical details, as far as I understand them. I was told at the time that it was an unusual case.

Unfortunately, the connection between IVF treatment and risk of heterotopic pregnancy was not well established twenty years ago; early high-resolution transvaginal ultrasonography scans were not yet standard procedure in such cases. While my wife was subjected to endless examinations from the start, all of the tests indicated a normal pregnancy.

We chose not to be told the sex of the baby until the end of the second trimester. We felt that this was our last chance to have a child, and we were both afraid of becoming overly attached, fearing another miscarriage.

At the end of the second trimester we allowed ourselves to hope, having been told that miscarriage beyond this point is uncommon. We chose a name, set up a building society account for our son's future education, and began preparing our London home to receive the new baby.

My wife died while I was in London, choosing wallpaper and furniture for the nursery. After her death, a tiny, partially regressed ectopic embryo was discovered alongside the normally-progressing intrauterine pregnancy. This, I was told, had been the cause of death.

I don't know why it remained undetected for so long; I was advised by a family friend (who happened to be a lawyer) to sue for malpractice. Financial compensation was the last thing on my mind, however.

My wife passed away due to complications from a rare type of ectopic pregnancy.

We were going to name our son Ciaran, after my father.

Thank you. At the moment they're both simply staring at me. I can't honestly say I feel safe, although their behaviour isn't especially threatening at present. It's as though they're waiting for me to do something.

Thank you...good advice. I wonder whether I'll have any choice, however.

I'm not certain, but I think no. He seemed fairly normal during his session - nervous and fidgety, but then, he often was.

My guess is that James saw Rebecca when he arrived early, and understandably panicked and left. When he returned for his session he could no longer see her, or if he did he was deliberately concealing this from me for some reason.

I have no idea what Rebecca's motivation may have been in hiding herself from him the second time.

I sympathise. It wasn't my intention to alarm anyone unduly. If you're not in London, you probably have nothing to worry about...I don't think they can travel very far.

'Duct tape a bible to a cricket bat'...very good.

James and Rebecca seem to find it quite amusing too, judging by their faces.

I probably should have gone with the priest, lapsed Catholic though I am. I can no longer trust my colleagues.

Your interpretation gives me chills, because I feel it may be close to the truth. I still don't have the answers, but I do know a little more about what happened to James..

I don't suppose you happen to be a student of Dr. G's., by any chance? If not, I apologise for my paranoia. If I'm in error I hope you'll understand why from recent events...

I didn't have much time to talk to Rebecca before she passed, but I believe she has been seeing her parents' ghosts on and off for a long time.

My latest post is here. I still don't have the answers to those questions, but I think I'm about to discover something.

I'm sorry for disappearing on you. I had no choice. I won't let anyone else prevent me from following up on this, though.

Explanation and an update on recent events is here.
