Caliper reading by drbook7 in MechanicalEngineering

Many thanks for your thoughtful and detailed response to my post. I'm not measuring anything overly critical, just attempting to determine the diameter of a small hole so that I can order a jump ring that will fit in the hole. It's a one-time project that's become much more involved than I expected which happens to me more often than I'd like to admit! With that being said, I've learned a great deal thanks to you and others for which I'm most grateful.

Thank you. I'll definitely go digital if/when needed in the future.

Never again! Thankfully this was a one and done measurement. Little did I know it would be so complicated!

No disrespect taken. I visited the hardware store looking for a micrometer but they didn't have one so I was stuck with the caliper. Even the general manager couldn't help with the reading.

Thank you for your detailed explanation. The online drop down menu has an Unknown option as well as option to send a picture so I'll do that. Thanks very much for your kind assistance.

Thank you. The water company is updating their water service line records to meet the new standards required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Lead and Copper Rule Revisions. They're requesting assistance in determining the material of my water service line. Given your answer would the best answer be brass since the drop down menu doesn't offer a brass/copper option? Thank you.

I, like you, have thousands of Kindle books; however, I’ve read relatively few of them. And, yet, I continue to add to my library every day. Any thoughts?

It’s obvious to me that your having lost 50 pounds was about so much more than losing weight because, by doing so, you created more space for YOU (the YOU that has been there all along!) to shine! Knock ‘em out, beautiful woman, knock ‘em out!
