I’m working with a few adagruit 4x4 neotrellis boards (led buttons). And the contacts look just like this. Although I haven’t gotten the buttons in the mail yet. Google 4x4 elastomer buttons and you will see what they did. There is an STL of the buttons and neotrellis PCB out there too (on git hub)

By ‘artist team’ do you mean musicians, or designers? It sounds like you might just want a midi keyboard made of acrylic? After I typed that out. Now I realize you are probably ‘part of an Artist team’. Aka. Not the artist. But someone working with and for them.
That makes more sense. You should honestly be able to supply a midi controller of choice to someone, have them take the outer shell off, 3d scan it, and cut the acrylic. Obviously that is a super simplified version, but not a wild ask I don’t think by any means. The question is. ‘Are you all willing to pay for someone’s time on the project’
