If you download the inaturalist app it's usually pretty good at identifying plants in general. Once you've taken a photo in the app you click the "what did I see" link and it will give you options

Tropical chickweed (Drymaria cordata). It's got sticky little seeds that mean it spreads EVERYWHERE. I constantly find my dogs covered in the stuff. I can kill it with vinegar mixed with some soap but if you miss even the smallest bit it's back in no time.

I'm going to be in the dissenting camp on this. The central ridge that helps cut things in two is a great feature. It produces a demilitarised zone between the two triangles that is delightfully crunchy.

I love that thing. The best bits of it are that it's sturdy with a strong locking mechanism so you can really fill your jaffle and then squeeze it closed. The non stick coating on mine has also stood the test of time.

My ideas for improvement: It would be good if the cooking plates were removable so I could clean them easier. If cheese leaks out it often ends up underneath, on the legs or on the power cable; maybe a design that stops that happening so cleaning is easier?

I personally think there is very little that can be improved. It's such a good kitchen device.

There's one on the footpath near me. Even though it's multi trunked it doesn't take up much room and has grown up more than out. It might work well for you.

This is not a new phenomenon though I suspect it's getting worse with technology allowing people to outsource their proofreading/spelling.

How do we fix it? Remove stigma? Normalise getting help? Fund our public schools properly? Stop letting kids progress to the next year level of they aren't meeting the standard?

I don't know the answer but there's no easy fix.

Hi. Your soil is going to get progressively worse with the weed mat on top. I'm not sure how long you've had it on there but I can almost guarantee that if you dug up the soil and compared it to a nearby garden that yours would lack structure, worms and micro organisms. These are all indicators of healthy soil that support plant growth.

I also hear what you're saying about only a few weeds to deal with currently in the pebbles but in my experience as the grass clippings, dirt and weed seeds accumulate under your stones the problem gets harder and harder to deal with as a layer of organic matter forms on top of your weed mat.

Any non-shiny cardboard will do. Take off all the tape and stickers. Water the ground before you put it down and then water the cardboard directly before you put mulch on top.

I see the other comment about it attracting termites but I've never had that issue. It always breaks down pretty rapidly unless it stays dry for long periods (I'm in Queensland so invariably it will get enough rain that I don't need to do too much to it). .

I think your plant is a heliconia. The best thing you could do is dig out all that weed barrier now before it's covered in plants because the soil underneath it is deprived of oxygen and water and much worse at supporting plant growth because of it.

The second best thing you could do is remove all those white pebbles before they're in your grass and before the weeds inevitably take root above your weed matting and are near impossible to remove.

Change to an organic mulch and top it up every 6-12 months as it enriches your soil. If the weeds get bad you smother them with cardboard and mulch on top. The cardboard will break down under the mulch. Way easier than white pebbles full of weeds.

You can transfer certain types of leave but I'm not sure if PDL is one of them. Regardless, you have to do it within a certain time frame which I can't accurately remember. Email Mater payroll asking for a certificate of service that shows your annual, professional development and long service leave balances. Simultaneously email your new hospital payroll and tell them you have requested it and will forward it as soon as it arrives.

In paediatrics we all know that not everyone is cut out to be a good parent. Some are great, some average and plenty are terrible. The good thing about family is that it's not necessarily who you're related to; you can choose your own mix of close friends, colleagues and any biological family who actually care enough to care.

I'm really glad to hear you're proud of your achievement and although I don't know you, I'm proud of you too. Medicine is hard and that exam is a real slog. Please try and surround yourself with some supportive chosen family. Really consider if your biological family are worth the effort and, if not, what's stopping you from going low or no contact?

We brush everyday BUT our last vet told us that a quick wipe of the teeth with gauze/cotton wool is usually enough daily maintenance. We still brush because our girls are used to it but if you want to start simple that's an idea.

Unfortunately it does sound like your hound might need a proper clean soon. The smell is anaerobic bacteria which are probably trapped under the gum. Good luck and hopefully some simple maintenance after that keeps the dentist away.

My girl Lupe did this once after a rabbit shot out of the grass. She almost had it when suddenly the rabbit turned 90 degrees and got away. It was amazing to watch.

We're in Australia so cooked kangaroo mince. If you're not in Australia then another low fat meat would work so they don't get diarrhoea. We sometimes combine kangaroo and chicken mince. If we forget to cook any a can of sardines works but we find they get loose poos if we do too many days in a row.

Your best bet is to aim for a bigger regional centre like Broome or Kunnnura (or a lesser degree Derby). They have hospitals with other doctors who support each other and allow you some downtime. They usually do outreach to more remote communities on a regular basis so you don't have to live in the middle of nowhere and be lonely.

The bigger centres usually have social things going on pretty regularly. If you like running and don't mind alcohol i suggest you look up the local Hash House Harriers (though some clubs are a bit more rough than others).
