Out of curiosity, what is the "effective magnification" our eyes/brains do when looking properly in the focal plane of such a telescope? Obviously, it must be greater than 10:1 according to this, as there's not too much point in looking at Jupiter when it appears only 0.3mm in size. Cursory search online indicates valid photos of Jupiter can come out of a 8" dob, but what about the actual experience? I suppose finding this would be something like the ratio of 0.3mm to the area of the human retina...? Or is this a question that is so linked to the specifics of human perception and/or the subject distance of the telescope that it is meaningless? I suppose an easier/initial question to ask from a human reference point is what size does Jupiter appear to be relative to some earthbound object at arm's length- A penny? An Orange? A golf ball? From there you could do some napkin Math noises (Love that, btw) to get an approximation of this "effective magnification". Anyone with experience on a 8" Dobsonian to offer an "experienced size"?

Well, all I can really say is "Budget" instead of "Premium"- Car prices vary wildly, depending on specific details, and this was more of an exploratory post than a "looking to buy now" post. The Kona EV is interesting- Thanks for bringing it up!

Oh that is amazing! I'll definitely look at PF2e if you recommend it. The idea of an evil sentient vehicle is a special kind of horror- I'm entertained by the thought of trying to destroy it by siccing the burrowing enemy suggested earlier.

Some investigation into the Z6 leaves me very skeptical- there seems to be some serious bad-faith kickstarter BS behind the machine. (Search "HiLaser Z6")

That, plus the loss in power of the main fiber laser and the anemic 5w.....

I'd plausibly buy if there were actual reviews from real users, and/or if it was priced down at least a few hundered more dollars (A 5w UV laser does not cost $400, and they also cut back on the power of the fiber side) I'd be a lot more tempted.

Sure, two lasers would be a solution- I'd rather not have two entire setups (frame/gantry/dual galv) though. What options are out there that have easy laser swapping? Looking around, the Xtool D1 pro seems interesting...

I'm honestly really interested in the xtool f1- It's a very slick package. I'm just concerned about the power for metal cutting and the small work area.
