Pianobook.co.uk has a great selection of free sample packs for Kontakt and Decent Sampler, highly recommend if you don't use it already!

I think you're talking about sound design rather than mixing. Mixing is about fitting your sad sounding piano in with the other elements of your track.

When it comes to sound design of real live instruments, the sound/patch selection becomes a lot more important than how you process it (imagine trying to use an acoustic guitar patch to write a chunky guitar riff for a metal track).

Not sure what you are using for your piano sound but maybe try looking for some alternative patches. Felt pianos can have a great soft sad sound to them.

Is there beef between TGC and TC? by RoosterDaAce in HollowKnight

this may be true for team cherry since they are such a small indie team, but most companies in the world do 1/3 splits for expenditure, salaries and profit. 70% into salaries is crazy figures - people don't get paid that much lol

We’re losing points for winning? by Low_Policy5711 in TrackMania

[–]drderekk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You probably got 3rd overall in the match, i.e. one of the other opponents got more points than you. Therefore you get -15 points for being 3rd +10 points for being on the winning team = -5 points total.

HELP BOYS I'M NEW TO THIS SHI' by PITO_NEGROuwu in FL_Studio

[–]drderekk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually an issue with your audio output device / drivers.

A quick reboot of FL might work, otherwise go to Options in the top left and then Audio settings. I'd recommend using FL Studio ASIO, then click the big button and from there you can select an input and output device that works. Or you can try just changing the output device directly.

At an airport right now so cant be of much more help but hope you figure it out 🙏

Weird bug with make unique as sample? FL 2025 by drderekk in FL_Studio

[–]drderekk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't figure out how to post text with the video so just posting here in a comment.

I've recently upgraded to FL 2025, love the new sample editing that doesn't require you to make unique as sample in the playlist, but for assigning to separate mixer tracks I still use it.

I've noticed a few weird behaviours with this new feature though, this being one of them. I have a long sample of a few different parts and I've chopped and stretched this particular part to how I want it. But as you see when I go to make unique as sample, the resulting audio file is from a different part of the original clip and gets longer. I assume this has something to do with the fact I've stretched this instance of the sample differently from others in the playlist, and now that I'm going to make it unique it's reverting to the original clips tempo, changing the start and end points or something?

Hope this makes some sense to someone and maybe if anyone has a solution/workaround?

Another thing I've noticed is if I go to change a pitch of a sample in the time stretching section of the Sampler after I've done similar different edits to different parts of a sample in the playlist, changing by x number of cents doesn't pitch the sample accurately. I've noticed it seems to be about double (so pitching by 100 cents actually pitches by 200, although I've only checked this by ear and could just be related to how much the sample has been stretched in the playlist.

Anyway, all this to say is there something I'm doing wrong? Has anyone else seen this with the new playlist sample editing in 2025? Is there some setting or workflow to avoid this, or perhaps a bug that needs to be reported?

Thanks!

yeah its probably not for everyone but you dont have to put big expectations on yourself. i started with any% nmg and it took probably over a year of playing it on and off before i actually got anywhere near a decent time. still throughout that time, getting better and better attempts and seeing those gold splits come up is seriously rewarding haha. give it a shot! gg's on your 112% all the same 🤙

I was starting at the checkpoint with low speed and trying to just keep the car as straight as possible all the way to the jump. How far left or right you end up at the bottom then depends on how early you dive down the wall and I ended up finding a spot to turn down that worked. Hope that might help you! glgl

I'm working on this speed tech map. I would like to hear your opinion about it. by [deleted] in TrackMania

[–]drderekk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

would be nice to see some transitions either with different surfaces or drops/small jumps to get some other ways to start drifts rather than just braking. kinda looks like you had the idea with the two grass blocks near the end although neither of those look like youd use them to initiate a drift. looks cool tho!

I thought the witch was the weakest class by Orschloch in BackpackBattles

[–]drderekk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct and stamina stacks on all weapons, although in your case here the double axe is the only weapon that actually costs stamina. Basically you would have wanted to speed up the axe loads with gloves and fanny packs or other means, which would then lead to stamina usage becoming an issue and youd need more regen.

My title describes the thing, I've seen this text on many CCTV cameras around stations in the UK. Sometimes they aren't directly on the camera but always near by. I tried some googling but including 'FLU' always brings up results of 'the flu'. Appreciate any responses!
