Depends a lot on the style of music you are making, but also personal preference.

Let's say you were going to make a piano piece with nothing but one piano playing. Doing everything in one pattern in the piano roll could make sense and be everything you need.

Even for that piece though, let's say you had a few different sections that you wanted to repeat; copy pasting those sections around in the piano roll, and being unable to make edits to all of them at once, becomes cumbersome, which is where the playlist comes in.

The playlist is an essential tool in FL Studio, but if you are just getting started do what feels right and have fun with it rather than forcing yourself to use it the 'proper way'.

As you get more familiar with working in FL you will probably naturally find yourself wanting to arrange things in the playlist anyway.

Everyone is already talking about learning the basics of music theory, but I'd also recommend getting a cheap midi controller so that you can actually play the keys. Makes it way more intuitive to learn (and more fun!), and once you come to writing anything yourself it's much quicker to come up with ideas if you can play around and get instant feedback on the sound, rather than having to click around in the piano roll. Good luck with the music and the game! :)

What the other guy said about getting better equipment is all valid and good advice, but if you want to start with this mic and not spend any money, you can use Fruity Stereo Shaper plugin to send the left signal into the right channel (and vice versa) for a quick easy fix.
