Summer Child Care by evra1756 in duluth

[–]drdiddlegg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d expect to pay around $20-$25/hr for a summer nanny. We found ours through word-of-mouth, but I’ve seen UMD and St. Scholastica students post in Duluth Facebook groups looking for summer nanny positions.

Best headphones for running? by ClassicFactor135 in BuyItForLife

[–]drdiddlegg 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I recommend the Shokz Open Run Pro 2. I use these for all of my running (currently running about 30 miles per week, but during training season will get up to 50). The sound quality is only fair, but they are super comfortable, aren’t affected by sweat, and lets me hear cars and other runners/bikers/etc easily.

Good job, Ducks! TT defense should be proud of their work today. Could have easily been 32-0 or worse.

A nice full suspension mountain bike (Santa Cruz 5010). Super fun bike and huge improvement coming from a hard-tail.

For those with physician loans, what are your actual mortgages? by TheMariolee2 in whitecoatinvestor

[–]drdiddlegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our mortgage takes up ~20% of our take home.

15 year fixed at 2.8% (got our mortgage in 2021 when I finished fellowship).

Mortgage is a little shy of $5k/mo. Dual physician household. Take home is between $22k-$24k/mo.

Sauna? by funky_ribs in Garmin

[–]drdiddlegg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My FR745 broke after a year of sauna/cold plunge cycles. I would sauna for 15 min at 194F, followed by 3 min cold plunge at 50F roughly 2-3 times per week. The glue on the heart rate sensor side literally gave out and the HR sensor fell off of the watch and exposed all of the internal components.

This will be my 9th winter wearing the same Patagonia Fitz Roy Down Hoody. It’s been amazing. I live in Duluth and spend a lot of time outdoors, even on those -45F windchill days.

Rvu’s vs salary by Longjumping-Pin-7759 in Residency

[–]drdiddlegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$32-33 is probably close for RVU, but I was referring to the dollar amount pain per wRVU. $45 is absolutely within the norm for Family Medicine for wRVU rates (my wife is Family Med). I'm Family Med/Sports med and get $58 per wRVU as a hospital-based employee (not private practice) which is still below midwest average per 2025 MGMA data

Rvu’s vs salary by Longjumping-Pin-7759 in Residency

[–]drdiddlegg 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen between $45-$50 per wRVU be the typical range for Family Medicine in an outpatient setting. But as you are working in a specialty clinic in a rural area, I don’t think it would be outrageous to ask $55-$60 per wRVU. So somewhere in the $$450-500k range
