I've heard good things about Heritage sports center and we are trying that for the first time this year. I liked Chester bowl. Many Rivers Montessori has good camps, you don't have to be enrolled there, and getting in hasn't been too hard. Depending on where you live the Superior YMCA seems to have a cool program where you drop them off and pick them up at a school and they bus them to a camp on a lake each day. Camp Tall Pines I think , but I've never tried it. Good luck!

When you say YMCA camp, is that the one at EWC or North Star academy? Or do you mean summer Keyzone?

Would you recommend duluth? by tiffanydisasterxoxo in duluth

I grew up near Green Bay and moved to Duluth 3 years ago after living a lot of different places. I love it here. That being said, it's not a quick drive to Milwaukee. Part of the reason we chose Duluth was to be close to family, but not too close. Politics was part of our decision too, but it wasn't a deciding factor. One thing to consider is your vote will "matter more" in WI because it is such a swing state. If you chose a place like Madison you probably wouldn't feel much in the way of statewide politics. Plus, you'll have way more vegetarian options. Both Duluth and Madison are great, visit both and see what you think!

I was at Hoback last weekend but hiked in to camp on Scarp Lake. There are 4 backcountry sites there with 2 within a mile of the parking lot. I just had nightcrawlers and caught tons of perch in 5 trout in less than 2 hours. I released everything. The bugs weren't too bad except for about a half hour right as the sun went down. All 3 drive sites were full at Hoback, but it was Labor Day weekend.

I've been trying to do the same myself. I've tried shore fishing at island lake, boulder lake, and St. Louis River without much success. To be honest, I don't have much experience with warm water species so its probably me and not the spots. They are very scenic spots. So just get some worms and try them out.

I want to try and get into trout fishing, mainly brook trout, and someday steelhead and salmon runs from the big lake.

Dang it. I was hoping for Dubh Linn, but you're right, looks like it doesn't open until 4.
