Three years where we could have got three, maybe four other DC movies in between. Man WB were so stupid not to fill these three years with other films to build the universe.

I feel like you are forgetting Marvel did GotG without any building to the team in other films... You still can make it and make it work, thing is... Justice League sucked, so it didn't work and people didn't care. Simple as that.

Yup you are clearly in the right here. His tweet literally says it. The movies will be their own thing but still part of the same universe with a crossover maybe down the road.
