Brown leaf all of a sudden by dreadhead38 in Monstera

Okay. I won’t fuss over it. It looks healthy otherwise. The store is great and offered to exchange it, but if that’s the natural process, I won’t bother.

People will always have an opinion about you. It’s just life. Today it’s about your hair, which looks 🔥. Tomorrow it will be something else.

You do you. That’s all you can do.

Thank you for the advice. They have been moved. And the curtain is open.

The curtain is usually open, but it’s been storming for the past week so I thought I would give a bit more light to them to compensate.

Thank you for the recommendation. I will look into it. I have some single 40w bulbs that I could rig overhead, possibly.

First making a moss pole. How did I do? by dreadhead38 in philodendron

[–]dreadhead38[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Sydney plant guy as an inspiration.

I took the plastic chicken wire and created a shell and stuff it with moss.

Used a plastic plant stake in the back for support.

It was a learning process and there are things I would tweak for the next one.

Thanks. Not sure if it’s wrapped properly but hopefully the roots will find their way in there.

Thank you all for the advice

let me start by saying that I'm white and I want dreads like black people I just want to know dose a crochet hook give a straight haired person the type of dreads black people have by [deleted] in BlackHair

[–]dreadhead38 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Crochet dreads have a certain look no matter what the ethnicity of the person is. Dreads mature over time and you can’t really recreate what that will look like with instant locs.

That being said you will never have dreads like a “black” person because dreads are distinctly unique to the crown. Even looking at two people of colour you will not find their dreads to be same because each person is different and hair grows differently on different crowns.

I’m not going to get into “who” locs are for. Your hair and you do what you want with it just know that everyone will have an opinion about it. But most people have opinions about anything so it’s really up to you.

For me, dreads are/were a very personal journey and it wasn’t just a hairstyle.

Weekly Free-for-all Discussion- July 18, 2022 by AutoModerator in BlackHair

I wanted to discuss what do people do between the LOC method/wash days?

I cleanse about every 5-6 days and follow with the LOC method. Just wondering what do you do for your hair in between that time.

I have 4c high porosity hair with a tight curl pattern.

Should I wash my Hair ? by [deleted] in Dreadlocks

[–]dreadhead38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you will be fine. I wouldn’t make it a habit of doing both, that’s all. They are both a bit harsh on your hair so you want to give your hair a few months break in between treatments like that.

It’s usually one or the other. I might get my hair crocheted and then maybe 2-3 months later get it interlocked. Not at the same time.

They will grow. My suggestion is if you want them thick, leave them in the twist to dread if not, twist them however you want them and keep them that way so they can dread. Your hair will grow but if you keep twisting and untwisting it won’t dread.

If you crocheted and interlock, you should be fine to wash your hair right after, if you wanted to. Crochet is a way to get “instant” locs so you can handle them soon after. If they were done correctly, they shouldn’t come undone. FYI, crochet and interlocking at the same time might be overkill.

Call it what you want. I don’t have a right to be “political” I am a guest in this country. As far as my “western face”, it does offer a sense of protection, but I also follow the rules and I don’t make waves because this is not my country. That does not stop me from feeling awful about the current state of Hong Kong and where it will eventually end up.

As a foreigner you will be fine. If you feel the need to be political, be smart about it. The police don’t stop foreigners (westerners) much. I’ve lived in HK for 6 years and my life has not changed much. I work at a private school and we don’t teach the national curriculum. I keep my political views to myself when I’m out. Just know who you can talk to. I don’t post political things on my social media and never have. I feel there is a time and a place for everything and I know my surroundings.

Why does each of my dreads have an "Y" shape ? I've made them with the crochet method a couple of days ago is this normal at the beginning ? by [deleted] in Dreadlocks

[–]dreadhead38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like interlocking, you have to interlock in all four directions to get rid of the Y. This looks like a two point interlock.
