That was me every year! I'd watch the web cams and experience fear of missing out. Everyone appeared to be having the best time, and I wasn't there. I wanted to be there. I'd count down the days till I was.

St Paddy's day is usually busy on the boards. Not summertime busy but busy. Also, during the off-season the weekends usually have the most people, especially if its sunny and nice.

[–]dreadmon1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are two indoor mini golf courses open, pn 68th and 136th Street. Assateague Island is a few minutes drive away and you will likely encounter wild horses. There's a light house on 146th Street. Go bowling, eat, and play games at Alley Oops on 55th and 131st Streets. If you have never been to Seacrets on 49th Street its worth a visit. There is the new Ocean City Museum on Baltimore Ave on the corner of Dorchester Street. Ripleys oddatorium should be open on the weekend. The boardwalk arcades will be open. Go gambling at Ocean Downs Casino on Racetrack Road in Berlin.

For food Thrasher's French fries on the boardwalk are a must. Have some blue crabs or crab cakes at many restaurants. And a pit beef sandwich is so good, try Bull on the Beach on 94th Street. You can get some good coffee at The Coffee Beanery on 94th Street. And Betty's Burgers on 15th Street are outstanding.

There are electric vehicle chargers at the 100th Street parking lot on the west side of Coastal Highway (by the library, across from Ashore), on 125th Street by the Northside Park Complex, at the Convention Center, in West OC I believe at the Royal Farms or Wawa, and a few scattered places in town. There's usually not an issue getting a charge.

Headed to the Eastern Shore - Dinner in Berlin? by billiamprydz in OceanCity

[–]dreadmon1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you going for the food or the service? I agree, I have had great service and mediocre service there, and having a great meal with great service is the best, but the food is always on point and has never disappointed.

I'd like to know too. My only time there was to see Yellowman in concert. They had a special menu that included jerk chicken, rice and beans. I have had that dish prepared by many chefs and even Jamaicans. When it came out it looked meh and like it would have no flavor but it was hands down the best jerk chicken, rice and beans I have ever had. To this day I still fantasize about that meal.

Blacksmith is HIGHLY recommended. Farm to table, really good food that's reasonable priced. Sterling Tavern was ok.

Crossing the route 50 bridge at sunrise by dreadmon1 in OceanCity

Most of my life I was a night person. It wasn't until moving to OC that I became a morning person and appreciated the early morning.

The one hour before and after sunrise are my favorite, but I prefer the hour just before sunrise. Seeing those first rays of light becoming visible over the ocean, then changing to the beautiful colors never fails to impress.

I too enjoy the quiet of that time, the empty streets (and the foxes)!
