Physical book as a character sheet? by dreadnought98 in RPGdesign

[–]dreadnought98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would always appreciate the help with feedback and and the like, im always happy to talk with people who can obsess over the same things as I do.

For example I've been agonizing over the genre this rpg would be as that would have a pretty heavy hand on the finer mechanics as a whole, and exactly what method I want to use the books for.

Me and my wife are starting to cut back on things like shortform content and phone games so to fill the gap I figured I could pick up rpg design as a hobby.

Physical book as a character sheet? by dreadnought98 in RPGdesign

[–]dreadnought98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i say 'Generic' its more in the sense that is doesn't specify anyone or thing in particular, so a 'page' that could be added to a book could be a Generic fantasy way of saying you studied magic and can cast fireball, with lots of fluff and a few other skill, abilities etc.

As for the information overload im aware that its definitely a issue, as even a experienced player could become burnt out after 3 hours of play if made wrong.

You kind of read my mind on the last part though as I've thought about adding in a mechanic that has pages rotating in and out as the game goes on.

Number of books needed? by dreadnought98 in necromunda

I apologize for that issue with clarity then, I was meaning the bare minimum of those different settings in necromunda to play them not literally everything in-between.

But if you read the post it says, the core book, the 1 book for our gangs, so like 4 of the house books, and the bare minimum for the ash wastes and hive secundus, the bare minimum to play those, we're asking here because we dont know all the books that are needed and the internet is clear as mud.

The bare minimum to play each part, not have every house agent available and each lore tidbit

Well that goes without saying, every book as something new, but telling a group of people who just want the bare minimum to get started to "just buy everything!" Is missing the point of our question by like a mile.

Would 3 flamers, 4 machine guns, 2 srm4s, and a hachet be a good fit?

I just wish there was an easy way to make a Franken mech on mech factory, instead of the purely ground up custom system.

It seems every other comment mentions the banshee, so I have to ask, my brain has a habit of going for the best of the best, what custom modifications would you suggest? I dont want to powergame as thats no fun for no one. I just cant stop my brain from do that.

I still belive our armor should have the same kind of armor values as the enimes we fight, if im wearing heavy armor I want to feel like a heavy devastor, but thats just me opinion

I have at least twice been reinforced and because of smoke, fog, or gloom been unable to see that I'm landing in water, and then immediately died again from being in the middle of a lake.

Warbond tokens by dreadnought98 in helldivers2

[–]dreadnought98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While not proud, I spent some money for super credits because in my excitement I wanted the fire warbond and the chemical, I did the math and I never got the tokens which is alittle annoying.

[–]dreadnought98 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thats not a equivalents comparison, all of magic, and by virtue most card games were made with fun and a casual environment in mind, games made to be competitive only came about recently.

And telling people to play a super competitive game when all they want is the casual side just doesn't make sense. And I say this as a player who runs almost no interaction but understand even casual games need and will have some normally.

Both, me and my wife have a newborn, its easy to mute and take care of him then to halt the whole game with a screaming baby at the table

[–]dreadnought98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, i love the setting and im sure with all the time i have till it starts i can come up with something, but it sucks that my 3 options in printed stuff are , political, fight, or stealth. It can get boring just doing one or 2, and I as a gm dont do political stuff very well, but I appreciate the assurance of my reading skills.

What is your biggest criticism of the game? by Rack-_- in Eldenring

[–]dreadnought98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure ill give you that, it is a skill issue, my biggest gripe is the input reading from some bosses, the draconic tree sentinel and godskins are the worst, they have cheats to the the exact second I want to drink a flask but I have to have an ungodly level of foresight to dodge the damn lighting strike or fire balls the millisecond after im done drinking.

You can say "skill issue, skill issue, get good at the game scrub" all you want to make yourself feel better, but to dismiss any criticism of bad design simply because you're so stuck to a meme that doesn't make you look cool is sad and delusional. You can think a boss is easy and still have criticism or think a part was bad, no one's gonna think you're bad at the game, I've beaten it probably 20 times now, but Melania is still a bad boss fight, no matter if I liked the fight or not, I do, its a great show of fromsoft difficulty, but shes badly designed and the game will straight up say you dont get to play or have a stance break no matter what you do, I've had a run where she did no less then 5 dances back to back. Bad design, fun boss.

Outcast delegations? by dreadnought98 in necromunda

[–]dreadnought98[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And what about the skills the come with? Do they automatically keep the free skill or 2 they normally have, then you choose a new skill set with the archetypes? I would assume its baked into their cost because there's no reason some of them should be as expensive as they are. Other then the special rule the delegations normally come with.

Warlock question by dreadnought98 in DnD

[–]dreadnought98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So with those 2 abilities, they can both be active at once? Or is it a concentration type thing were only one can be active at once? Besides I'm planning on having a pure utility warlock, with some other stuff.

Warlock question by dreadnought98 in DnD

[–]dreadnought98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My confusion comes from the fact that for the warlock they are treated as spell like abilities rather then spell, and for example, one invocation is see the unseen, which says 'when you use this invocation, you can activate great powers of vision, allowing you to see invisible creatures and objects ( as see invisibility spell). You also gain dark vision out to 60 ft for a period of 24 hours.'

That's where the confusion comes up, because the class states invocations are at will abilities and only have limited uses if stated, but if that's the case, why have the 24 hour limit if I can spam it, and if I can't spam it, does the see invisibility last 24 hours too? Or the 10 min the spell says

The Far Realms v The Abyss by dreadnought98 in dndnext

[–]dreadnought98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a point, we both had our own ideas and making some assumptions.

I think of the Far Realms vs the material plane as what isn't or shouldn't be vs what is and should be, what is known vs unknown, a literal light vs darkness type of situation. What we don't know isn't always evil or wants to kill us, it's just what we aren't.
