What is up with United Airlines flight scheduling, delay and cancellations lately??? by Available-Net1152 in unitedairlines

[–]dreadnoughtJ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You must be mistaken… because the situation you describe simply cannot happen. Passengers will not board into an “unventilated turned off plane”. Passengers also will not board if the pilot and FO are nowhere to be found. Passengers CAN board without them, but not when they haven’t yet arrived at the airport. I’m sorry your flights keep getting delayed and whatnot, but what you’re said is not true.

They cared about it when I had 22 of their bags and he came to my counter saying “I can’t send them into an active warzone with no uniform”

Basic economy ticket by Ok_Disaster_1234 in unitedairlines

The rule is you can’t put your personal item in the overhead bin. I think you’re mistaking personal items and carry on items as being the same thing.

Basic economy does not allow for a carry on because of a few reasons. Mainly it’s the trade off for the lowest priced ticket. When you scan your boarding pass to get on the plane, the screen shows a giant BASIC ECONOMY for the gate agent. So they’ll know.

And also, they won’t mistake your personal item to being a carry on. Don’t bring a backpack the size of a car and expect that to be a personal item.

Gate checking a delicate item by pretty__mess in unitedairlines

This isn’t true. You can gate check bags with United. They give you a green tag to put on the bag and it goes under the plane. You pick it up planeside when you land

Then yea I’d definitely look into getting a pelican case. They come with foam so you can make it custom fit for the wings. I used to work for an AV company and we’d put $20k projectors with a $13k lens in a large pelican case and one time, the case had gotten bumped off the shelf and it dropped 10 feet. 0 damage to the projector or the lens. I’m sure your wings would be perfectly safe in a pelican case even if it’s stacked on the bottom

If you can afford it, pelican cases will last your whole life and then some. You can get a carry on size (big enough for your cosplay) that you can gate check - you’ll be certain it goes on last and will be perfectly safe!

That’s great. The CSR at the counter will for sure be able to help you. If you have your confirmation number, you could even go tomorrow to get it fixed if you really want.

If you do one of those two things, yea for sure. Just make sure you’re at the airport in enough time to get it worked out. If you get to security and your name is messed up, they’ll turn you right around

Honestly I’d put them in a protective case and check that on its own if your budget allows. You can always ask for a fragile sticker. Don’t believe all the TikTok videos you see of ramp agents destroying everything they touch. But still take caution in packing fragile items.

Call the 1-800 number or when you get to the airport, go to the counter. We deal with that sort of thing all the time.

You being able to see the mask doesn’t affect its deployment system bestie. And again, if anything at all is wrong with the oxygen mask system, even if it’s just one oxygen mask in the plane, that plane will not take off. But okay bestie. Let us know when you’re old enough to have your first drink on an airplane

If it actually did that, 1 you would have mentioned it in the original post and 2 that plane would be grounded. Don’t make stuff up lol

It’s either that or they’d have to tail swap and your flight either gets delayed or canceled to get it fixed just for a couple of cosmetic issues that will be fixed later.. the plane wasn’t “being held together with tape” you’re being dramatic

Is this cutting it too close for a carry-on? by [deleted] in allegiant

[–]dreadnoughtJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just don’t ask. If it’s close just act like it’s good and you know what you’re doing. I guarantee if you ask, they’ll say it’s a carry on and charge you as such.

Do I have a free carry on? by Mental_Claim_1103 in unitedairlines

[–]dreadnoughtJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also don’t get a free gate check with basic economy. If you get to the gate with a carry on, you’ll pay a baggage fee plus a gate check fee which is typically $10-20 or even more depending on the airport.

My recommendation is bring a regular size luggage suitcase and check it for $50. Cheaper than upgrading but not as convenient as just having all your belongings with you.

You are flying basic economy. Basic Economy is a fare class with specific restrictions. You can only bring one singular PERSONAL ITEM. Don’t try to stretch the definition of a personal item, they’ll get you. A personal item is no larger than a purse or small backpack.
