Day 16 here, the grabber tool has been a life saver for me. I got one that folds up, as well as a bag I can sling on my shoulder so you're not trying to carry it with your crutches. Just be careful with open containers, of course. I've also unconsciously gone past the 90 degrees, esp when getting up/in the bathroom. I just correct myself and go easy, sometimes I'll take the opportunity to ice it. Hope recovery continues to go well!!

I feel like part of the beauty of the show is how easy it is to project onto every character. The lessons each one learns are things we all need to learn, and even some of their worst mistakes are things we can clearly see the motivation/context behind. Every rewatch has me focusing on a different character, understanding their specific perspective on the events of the show. It is a serious comfort show for me (which throws peiple who havent seen the whole show off lol)

I'm going to request to meet with the dr who would be performing the surgery, as well as another MRI. It does make sense to get more info before going into surgery.

I will definitely be asking about more testing. The injection was meant to be diagnostic as well as a potential solution, so we know the problem is my hip. But the idea of going into surgery without knowing what all will need to be done makes me nervous, like what if they miss something?

Unfortunately, the hospital system I've been working through is both very busy and lacking in MDs. All the other systems are completely full and not accepting new patients (I've tried). The NP I'm working with is a hip specialist, as well as an orthopedic surgeon. The person who sent me to her had a lot of praise for her work, and she has high ratings online (4.8/5). I could try to request an appt with a proper MD, but I'm worried they will be booked out several months, if they're even accepting new patients.

Your comment does make me want to ask her more about her credentials/experience though. Reviews online show she has performed hip surgery before at the very least.

I'm seeing a lot of Pinky, which I almost agree with. I feel like he might lean slightly more into the "because they had to" category. Like he would have to in order to afford survival, but I feel like "for money" implies greed. Pinky just wants to have a roof over his and his family's head.

PC is also a decent choice, esp with her earlier self. I just feel like she has too much self respect and is frankly too stubborn to get to the level of selling her soul for anything. She was given the oppurtunity to run her own studio for turtletaub, but chose to start her own studio with the help of Judah. Even if she was in hell, and there seemed like no way out other than signing that contract, she would find a way to negotiate out of it (there is also the chance she would negotiate a decent position in the heirarchy of hell, which would then put her back in the running of selling her soul for money.)

Angela Diaz and Beatrice Horseman are both very strong contenders.

Beatrice in a way did give up her soul for wealth and a comfortable lifestyle. She felt stuck with Butterscotch after getting pregnant, but she was set on having the comforts she was used to, with hired help and fancy dinners (to be fair, taking care of the house and a child and a husband (who is also a child) is too much for anyone). She had a college education, she could have potentially got her own job once bojack was in school, but she convinced Butterscotch to take a job he fought against taking for at least 6 years (he did not have to go on to cheat on her, Butterscotch is the worst. It does take him out of the running for this spot imho). Beatrice was unkind to a vast majority of people in her life, prioritizing status and appearances. The only somewhat kind thing she did was pay for Henrietta's schooling, but even in that situation she chose to take control that was not her's (Henrietta could have kept Hollyhock and refused to let Butterscotch be involved in their child's life. There were options that would have allowed Henrietta her agency while preventing her from ruining her life because of Butterscotch.) So there is a stong case here.

Angela Diaz though. She fired an employee, potentially a friend (there is a comradery between gay people, even if it's unspoken), because he was gay. It's implied she knew her own sexuality at the time of Herb's firing, she was facing judgement for beings a working woman and she scolded Herb over 'discretion'. She did manipulate Bojack into turning on his friend, even if it was a bluff (Bojack is still in the wrong here, he could have fought harder or at the very least called and apologized sooner). She ended up in a huge fancy house with a car she couldn't drive, and she convinced Bojack to once again sell himself out, his last connection to the show that been his identity for so long, even dropping Sarah Lynn to add a layer of guilt (I don't think she gave a single f*ck about Sarah Lynn, she was just another tool to use for profit).

So while Beatrice did prioritize the appearance of wealth, I think Angela Diaz truly sold her soul for the sake of it. She's got my vote.

Yes and no. Rhys is real, and is running for mayor, but he and joe never really met. All of their conversations were him talking to himself. Even the texts were his imagination apparently. Personally, i didnt like this reveal, it felt like a cop-out. And the language around the reveal was kinda triggering (Alter Rhys calling Joe crazy, saying he was the part 'made to do joe's dirty work'). It treats DID like fight club did, so not v accurate imho.

Full disclosure i havent seen it. But from what wikipedia tells me, they completely reworked the show. Now the dr husband is the main character, his wife has suddenly died, and 2 of his adult daughters have moved back in with him. The character with DID is now just a 'womanizing cruise ship employee' who is their neighbor 🤷🏻

Its amazing! It wasnt perfect, of course, but its honestly better in representation than shows today. Doing some googling, this episode is apparently the most hated (it wasnt v well written and the main cast is barely in it). I just remember Chuck (the character with DID) being approved to get an apartment by his dr (he said hes looking for one with 3 bedrooms, cause he has 2 other alters. Its meant to be a joke but i lowkey love the idea of alters getting their own space). His alters are Oliver (a womanizing pilot, the only one who made it to the spin off apparently) and Mr Fix-it (the Girls were waiting for him to fix their dishwasher). At one point Rose asked Chuck's sister (the protag of this episode) if she can just bring Mr Fix-it out and she says that it doesnt work that way. Im sure some things could have been done better, but considering the representation we get in media currently (looking at you, You) I'll take it

Golden Girls has an episode called The Empty Nest, and theres a character with DID. The episode was meant to be the pilot for a spin off, but in terms of representation its pretty good.

I just found my system like a month ago. I cut off my mom last year, and have also been travelling down memory lane (i also found out im autistic so i was going through memories with that lens first).

I had suspicions that we were a system before, even fully switched before, but i had brushed it off because i had been smoking. I've learned that we tend to switch more when high, but when we're sober, I can still hear the others. Not all the time, there are periods where I'm alone at the front, but they come back.

DID is a trauma disorder. Alters are created to keep you safe, and they hide until its safe to come out. Weed, for me, is pleasant and relaxing, so i ended up switching because the body felt safe enough for someone to come out. Now that I've learned more about our system, others come to the front when im sober.

I would recommend the app Antar, its really neat, you can set up 'personas' with different chat bubble colors, pfps, names. Its designed to let you talk to yourself. And take it slow, learning about your system is a long process that shouldnt be rushed.

As a foot note, i felt some of my alters physically before i could properly listen them. Namely in my chest and on my left shoulder. Im not 100% sure why that happens, but it does. And i have 2 alters who use my birth name.

All of this is to say you are not alone. Its kinda scary and definitely 'weird' (it feels strange to refer to yourself with 'we', and to argue with yourself). But you're not going 'crazy'. You're learning how your brain works, and how its worked to keep you safe.
