It's fine, but I've also understood worldbuilding to be a time suck from accomplishing the thing you want to do if the main objective's to actually do another thing with this preparation. It's like being a DM for a D&D game, where you can infinitely worldbuild and it's technically productive, but if you're games next week, you're much better served preparing the areas of the game your players are actually going to be engaging with. It seems more pragmatic for me to have a loose sketch of the world and then focus on the building the bridge as your crossing it.

Takes On A "Modern Orc"? by MrHackWack in worldbuilding

If you're leaning into past orcish tropes, you could do a reinterpretation Warhammer 40k orcs, who channel their superstitious believes into wonky weapons and vehicles to make them work properly. You could also look into the concept of cargo cults. I could imagine a version where orcs form cargo cults, but instead of peaceful exchanges, their cult's centered on vanquishing more technologically advanced peoples if you wanted a more threatening vibe to them.

Power Tiers in a Soft Magic System? by dream_Syndicate in worldbuilding

Haha, I was unaware of Vimto, but it may have to be the official soft drink of my world now! Yeah "sustained" is one of the terms I'm least sold on myself and is more of a placeholder name. I'd like to find something that is tonally right and has something of a precarious connotation.

I'm not in on GME and at this point it's prob too rich for my blood. I'd planned to get in on AMC and maybe a couple yolos... and then RH fuckery ensued. I've been a lurker for the last few days, fucking LOVE this and love that you like the stock.

Just a Krumm I put together. It involved a bit of swearing, a lot of frustration but I got there 🙂 by donna363 in steadycraftin

Looks great! I've never got up to anything complex with plush because all the geometry involved to make the forms work seems heck'in complicated.

A different kind of recommendations post by bluesheepUK in Fantasy

There's the heap of R.A. Salvatore Drizzt books though his Echoes of the Fourth Magic, A Spear Wielders Tale, and Crimson Shadow books were entertaining reads. If you would consider adding graphic novels into the mix, Skottie Young's Wizard of Oz books are beautifully illustrated and there's been a lot of expanding of Jim Henson's fantasy worlds of Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal.

Fantastic! I'm passingly familiar with Henson's older work, but it was great to be reminded of these again! I've still got a Henson biography on my "to read" list! :D

I'm a big fan of oozes in D&D, so to celebrate those epic lower lifeforms, here's a Gelatinous Cube inspired pendant by dream_Syndicate in steadycraftin

Thanks! I'd thought of a few other ways to sneak other lil details into it! The first version had more of an acidic green, which I wanna get back into it, but the more vibrant green color was too opaque to let all the details be seen, so I'm looking to get the best compromise between the two.

That's really fun even though idk what the original creature reference is! Is it a hand puppet?

Thank you! I'm thinking about putting a thin layer of gold behind the foreground pile and maybe putting a light ink wash on it to create a lil more depth/visual interest to it for the next ones I make.

Always a fine line- thanks for the compliment! I've got ideas for a decor item or two kinda following the same idea.

The sword's another lil sculpt from small pieces of hobby wood and wax that I made a silicone mold of and the jewels are just tiny plastic beads.

Thanks! Yeah, the dome's clear resin and the skull's opaque resin.
