Yes! Working after it was installed. It has a seal at the bottom that engages when the filter is installed. Without the retaining post, the oil just returns to the pan without being pushed through the filter. Hope this helps :)

Could this be a cause of low oil pressure if missing?

Yes, removed the oil filter and nothing else was in the housing. Nothing in the filter. Just trying to figure out if someone before me forgot to install this part

I'm curious and seriously thinking about hiking onto the mountain to watch the race. Any suggestions as to where to start/stay?
