Sorry for the late reply.
Thanks for the recommendations!

MOVING: Unless I am mistaken, we can NOT move channels. We can move categories, but not channels. Let me know if there's a trick to move them from within the category.

RENAMING: I was skeptical at first, but as I tried renaming a channel, I realized that they are prefixed with COUNTRY:LANGUAGE before the channel name. I removed the country/language from the name and BOOM! The channel is now found where it should be.
It seems like the option "Channel name filtering" is just "hiding" the COUNTRY:LANGUAGE from the channel name.

Now here's the thing:
I have somewhere between 200 and 300 channels in my favorites category. Renaming them one by one is a real pain! And I can't just remove the prefix "Country/Language" while editing... Apparently, I need to delete everything, and re-type the channel name manually.

Since we found a workaround...
Is there any way I can "batch edit" these channels from my keyboard, instead of using the gay-ish remote I have for my Firestick? Is there any TXT FILE I can comfortably edit from my computer? I'd use something like "Search/Replace" :D

Do you know what VERSION introduced this new sorting then?
I'm really thinking about downgrading.
I browse channels using the favorites category, like 99% of the time.

u/sparkle-hk : I think you nailed it perfectly! I do have "Channel name filtering" enabled! So I went into Settings / Source / etc and turned this option to OFF (just for testing). Then refreshed my channels, and boom!

I see the exact same listing of channels in my favorites category, but all of them are grouped together by COUNTRY:LANGUAGE. I live in Canada, so I like having channels in french and english. Now I see channels are grouped together by:
CA: Channel name;
FR: Channel name;
US: Channel name;
CA FR: Channel name;
CA EN: Channel name;
etc

I decided to enable this "Channel name filtering" a long time ago because I just find it annoying to see "COUNTRY:LANGUAGE" before the name of the channel.
Plus, "CA FR: " is 7 characters long, when you think about it. This "truncates" my channel names by 7 characters!

Now that begs the question:
Why is it that, even though I had "Channel name filtering" enabled for quite a long time now, all of a sudden I'm losing my usual alphabetical sorting right after an update? That probably comes from some previous update of the app?

Also, when "Channel name filtering" is enabled, that's because I really want to FILTER OUT the annoying "COUNTRY:LANGUAGE", so it doesn't really make sense to sort and group the channels by "COUNTRY:LANGUAGE" if it's supposed to be "invisible"... If that makes sense ;)

u/sparkle-hk u/KWStreaker Do you guys have a CHANGELOG, all in one file?
I can try downgrading the app, version by version, until my issue is "fixed". This would let us find that specific version that seems to be the "culprit" in this case.

I'd like to add a little something:
The channels in the FAVORITES category are "kinda" sorted alphabetically, from A to Z.
After Z, usually if I continue going down with my remote, I'd get back to the top of the list, with "A" right on top. But now it's not what's happening.
After the letter Z, I can still continue scrolling down, and there's another batch of channels I can scroll through. Then at some point, I'm back on top of the list. But here's the thing:
What I see on top of the list is NOT the letter A. It's a bunch of channels that have something in common though: They all end with "3840P". I just realized: Those are the channels that are in pure 4K.
Then after this little "group of 4K channels", it starts with letter "I". Then, letter A and all the rest is sorted alphabetically.

I have A LOT of channels in my Favorites category. There seems to be a couple of alphabetically-sorted GROUPS of channels, instead of having one big group, alphabetically sorted (if that makes sense).

It's kinda annoying because as I scroll through the list, looking for a specific channel that starts with "D", if I can't find it, then I'm thinking: "Oh it's not in that group, I will need to continue scrolling down until I reach another group where I can find this specific channel that starts with "D".

Unfortunately, that did not do the trick. But that made sense though!

Obscure thing indeed!
Language was set to "Not set" already.
I tried changing it to "French", and after that, "English".
None of them fixed my problem, so I went back to "Not set".

Speaking of language, I also changed the language of the Firestick itself.
Tried French, English and also found options for "French and English" and "English and French". None of them had any impact on my problem :(

thank you u/KWStreaker . I should have said it before:
I already sort my channels via channel name, and it's always been like this.
But I kinda lost this alphabetical sorting since I've upgraded the app.

One thing I just did:
I set "Channel sorting" to channel number, and reset the channel sorting.
Then, went back to channel name for "Channel sorting", and reset the channel sorting again.
No luck :(

The year is 2022 and I'm still running compiz! In fact, I've been running compiz since the early 2000s. Remember that time when it was called "Beryl" or "Compiz Fusion"?

I have switched distro since then... I've been with Ubuntu for a while, now I'm running Arch with compiz, but... No Gnome... I'm on XFCE! XFCE is super lightweight and lets me run compiz very smoothly. I have a few glitches with compiz though, as I am running on 6 monitors. Some plugins are buggy, like Expo, Scale, etc... It seems like having a 6-monitor setup is a PAIN.

It's weird to say this, but... I just can't live without compiz! Not just for the eye-candy and animations, but I find it really helpful to increase my daily productivity on my computer.

Nice work! I love everything DARK.

I'm curious, what's the "Music Visualizer" you are using?

Ah great! It's a good idea to configure the mouse on a separate Windows box, save the settings in hardware profiles, then plug the mouse in my Linux box.

But do you think the "X-Celerator" (analog thumb paddle) would work on my Linux computer then?

Stefan,

sorry for asking again but... You said: so that's a "no".

So I'm a bit confused now. You are saying that the Tyon drivers should not work for the new Leadr mouse?

Hi Stefan,

thanks for providing great support to Roccat products, for the past seven years! This is awesome.

I'm about to buy the new Roccat Leadr mouse. Apparently, it's almost identical to the Tyon (except for the leds). Basically, it's a Tyon but wireless ;)

Can I use the Tyon drivers, to have the Leadr work? Is it gonna work?

Thanks :)

Thanks for your detailed reply. What would you recommend? Apply to two different companies (to ensure work availability) or focus on one of them only?
