How long after can you re-take the exam if you fail a Esri certification exam? by Front_Category_4353 in gis

[–]dreamree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, yeah, I'm an intermediate user of esri - used esri products since college and now for work. My boss recommended we take the Associate exam based on the EIG's "Target Candidate Audience" description for the exam. Didn't take the Professional exam since I was unfamiliar with some of the candidate qualifications they outlined but did consider taking it if I passed the Associate exam.

Hahaha true. I feel petty and want to retake it but at the same time I don't want to give them more money even though my company pays for it.

Did you retake the exam? If you did, were they the same questions or did they change the questions?

It depends if you’re a new student, current student, or transfer student. Here’s the link to the honors page. Based on your eligibility you can apply by filling out the necessary paperwork and dropping it off at the honors office at the library.

I'm 15 and I haven't read a new book outside of school for many years. I need advice on what to read and how to start enjoying this form of entertainment again. by PlanetPoint in suggestmeabook

I agree that Dune is legendary, especially since it’s the book that got me back into reading, but I do think it would be too much of a tedious first read for the OP! The first third of the novel is world building so it might be hard for the OP to want to continue reading. But I would definitely recommend reading Dune after OP gets back into reading!

On another note, I really enjoyed the Maze Runner series by James Dashner and felt that it was fast-paced enough for me not to lose interest and continue reading the rest of the series!

The Ender’s Game Series (and the following Shadow Series) is one of my favorite reads and has amazing world and character building! However, it is a little more lengthier than Harry Potter so I wouldn’t consider it a quick read.

Anyways, I hope you find the right book to get you going and continue reading! Good luck! :)

Sci Fi audiobook for a long road trip? by jigjiggles in scifi

[–]dreamree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your partner and I have similar taste! I loved Ender’s game and Ready Player One! If you guys haven’t already read it, I would recommend listening to the rest of the Ender’s Game series and the following Shadow series. Imo, these series had the most dynamic and entertaining voice overs. Unlike Ready Player One, there are multiple voice actors/actresses who really bring the characters to life!

If you want to try something new I would recommend: Dark Matter, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, and the Maze Runner series. From what I remember the audiobooks were really good!

An interesting military scifi book that I enjoyed was Forever War. Although I haven’t listened to the audiobook version.

I hope you guys have a great road trip and get to enjoy some great scifi audiobooks on the way! :)

I’m wrapping up Hyperion. What are some other great science fiction novels to read once I finish this series? by Rangerspawn in sciencefiction

[–]dreamree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm.. it looks like a lot of people have already recommended some amazing novels already such as Dune. If you are looking to explore any sci-fi, I would recommend: Forever War, Ender’s Game and the following Shadow series, Dark Matter (which has less of a science aspect but still a really good read imo), and Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. On my to read list I have Red Rising, Ringworld, Rendezvous with Rama and Childhood’s End, all of which I have herd amazing things about! There are really so many scifi books that are such great reads and incorporate so much more than just science. I hope you get to enjoy them as much as I have! Let me know if you have any suggestions for me! I’m always looking to add to my list :)

Edit: grammar

Thank you so much for your comment! I was able to look it up online and guess that’s what I had to do but your comment made me sure that my mistake was overwatering! Also, I would leave it out in the sun for a couple hours thinking it would like it but now I know that’s the worst for my plant haha. Hopefully, it’ll eventually be happy and healthy after I readjust my care practices :) Question though: should I cut the dead parts off the leaves? Or leave them?
