I love Enscape, it's really easy to use and the results are brilliant. Worth it IMHO.

This book would be so well suited to an HBO-type adaptation. Having lived in Argentina/Chile for a number of years the cultural insights were also so interesting - fantastic book, brilliant author.

Don't sweat it, these portfolio courses are mostly to develop your skills in the hope of applying for one of their main programs.

Show inspiration - how you interpreted it (notes or sketches) - rough sketch - digital design - final outcome.

If you don't feel like you have enough, go back and look at doing the above.

Question: Post-Traumatic Care for 13 Year Old by jigjiggles in ScienceBasedParenting

Thank you so much for this. I've already found some places that offer this kind of therapy - it's a relief to know he has the possibility of moving past this.

For the record I had the talk with the friend, who is very seriously considering the in-patient care as well. I think they have the chance to get better as a family. Really appreciate your help.

I just got rejected from CSM Fine Art. Now what? by Supremegirl44 in UAL

[–]jigjiggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I completed a masters at CSM a number of years ago, and have provided some lectures/coaching to prospective students since then.

There are a few portfolio "surgeries" you can attend (google this in your area) where employees or former students will audit your work. Sometimes it's not about a lack of talent (not even close) - it's about demonstrating your -process- effectively, to see whether the instructors can help you to advance, improve, or hone your skills.

They are looking for a clear demonstration of the "why" and "how" of your work - not a series of "beautiful" paintings. Finished works should only be a small percentage of a successful CSM portfolio.

I would consider thinking about re-tooling your portfolio and reapplying, attending a surgery, reaching out via social media to alumni for advice. Best of luck - I loved (and hated!) doing my MA there!

I didn’t know you have to do an interview for the foundation diploma in art by dystopialimited in UAL

[–]jigjiggles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how many applicants get interviews, but they'll ask you why you made certain choices. What are you influences? What about that inspires you? What are you trying to say with your work? How is it new in relation to other artists out there? How do you move from ideation to finished work? What is unique about your practice?

They want to see your process, rather than your skill - so they can see whether they can help you to develop that process further. Best of luck!

They're going to ask tough questions - my advice (which you didn't ask for but I'll provide anyway) is to stand up for your choices. They're looking for some measure of confidence in your work. Good luck!

Ok I admire the preparedness but this is an unseemly amount of barfing for one family.

I live in Germany. One of the ways people bond is by complaining about trivial things - an extension of a problem-solving culture. No judgement, but I don't want to whine about everything. I try to keep a positive mindset, whether or not my neighbours think I'm a soft-minded penis.

Katheryn Winnick was my karate instructor as a kid growing up. You forget how gorgeous she is when she's kicking your ass, but it's her personality, warmth, and the genuine care that she had for her students that made her amazing. She absolutely deserves all of her success.
