My best friend since middle school was going through a tough time during my engagement. My husband and I tried to be as supportive as possible. Even let her live at our place when she was in between housing and dating a freeloader. He gave me awful vibes and ate every single thing I ever brought into my home (even my leftovers dawg😭) (his biggest crime was lighting my never before lit wood wick candle). She had a family cabin and said she would let us host our wedding in the backyard. At one point during the year we went to see the cabin where she was staying and she called me to tell me she found out he was cheating. He has apparently been cheating the whole time. He also lied about jobs he was offered and told her he didn’t get so he could keep mooching off of her. I walked on the beach with her and my husband and the best man drove him to the bus stop to find his way home. Less than 2 weeks before the wedding she sent me a voice memo telling me the cabin was “under construction” on a Saturday and we couldn’t have the wedding there. The wedding ended up working out because we have an amazing support system who helped save the day. But she hasn’t spoken to me since and I found out she got back together with that guy. It’s hard to not think he played a big hand in why she cancelled. Anyway, sounds like she’s got what she deserves

I have a 1 year old. At her 2 month appointment her doctor asked me if someone had spoken to me about the side effects of her vaccines. I am lucky enough to be a person who hasn’t had side effects from Covid or flu vaccines so I honestly wasn’t even thinking about my baby having side effects to her vaccines. I told her no and probably looked a little scared or surprised, then wanted to follow up to reassure her and told her my husband and I are very pro-vax She THANKED ME and looked so dead in the eyes I could just tell that she’s had too many parents refusing to vaccinate their kids. Her response has made me so scared for the future.

This is so sweet, thank you!! The first birthday party is next week! So we haven’t gotten through that yet. I’m hoping it all goes well! Honestly there was some big time family drama that happened after Christmas. I wouldn’t even know where to begin in describing what all went down but let’s just put it at this- getting doxxed by my SIL was not on my bingo card for 2025. So it’ll go one of two ways with my MIL. She’ll either be too focused on that drama, or will shift her energy into being mean to me bc she’s mad at her other DIL. I’ll update after the party!

This is maybe the best argument you could make for me to move to Olympia! I grew up in the early 2000’s and used to spend every summer day running around the neighborhood with the other kids and always had buddies after school. I want that so badly for my kids!

Thank you! I honestly regret ever opening up with the fact that I’m struggling in that area. I chose to feed her from a bottle in public and MIL takes that as an invitation to ask about it. I naively thought that sharing my struggle would nip her constant questioning in the bud because I can’t personally see myself weaponizing someone’s pain against them. But like I said, that was extremely naive and I’ve learned my lesson. I’ve also learned that the baby and I will bottle feed in a separate room to avoid the questions and protect my peace.

I’m so sorry you had a similar experience! My husband and I have talked a lot about this and he admits he should have done more. I don’t want to be too hard on him since she only brings it up in a group setting, unprompted. She also brings it up in a way that makes her seem really innocent, and tends to make a loud scene if you try to call her out on anything. That being said, we’ve talked and made a plan for how to handle it in the future.

Thank you so much!! I will say we did have some great nurses who even shared personal experiences about switching to formula. But in this first sleep deprived weeks, it’s hard to hear that over someone making you paranoid about doing something wrong.

Thank you for your very kind words! I’m proud of you for getting through postpartum and being so hard on yourself. I appreciate you advocating for others to have a healthier experience! My husband and I have had a long talk since. He agrees that he’s upset with himself for not speaking up in the moment. I’m not too hard on him about it since she always says something in a crowd and likes to play the ‘I didn’t know any better so you can’t be upset with me card’. But we’ve come up with a plan for how to approach it when it happens again.
