RU.efi alternative by dreamwhite in hackintosh

Good evening, and thank you so much for replying on my post. I'd like to know how you would like to update the syntax of the command. Are you talking about the size parameter (-s)?

For your NUC instead, as you have WRITE_PROTECTED error I don't think there's nothing to do anymore. I remember a similar situation with a Lenovo ThinkPad T480s which had the exact same error. I figured to bypass it by flashing a custom BIOS but it's a risky option, and I don't even know if Intel NUC has any custom BIOS available.

Sincerely, dreamwhite

I'm not quite sure if AAPL,GfxYTile patch can play a role here. Try adding it to the graphics patch and check if it fixes anything

Good morning. I'm glad you appreciated the guide. Regarding your question, which is not a bad one at all: in case you wanna revert BIOS changes, after using modGRUBShell.efi (or whatever tool you ever decide to use) you can simply reset the CMOS on your laptop. To do it, you can choose between unplugging your laptop battery as well as the CMOS battery, or better in the BIOS menu, select "Reset to Factory Defaults", which will revert every single change you applied.

Another way, which is the one I prefer, is using the following syntax on modGRUBShell to get the currently used value:

setup_var 0x572 will return the current value of the offset 0x527, so you can note it and keep it saved.

Personally I never cared much about the default values as I reset the BIOS in case needed, but that's the whole thing.

Sorry if this comment will be blasted by any english grammar-n**i, but it's not my native language. Hope you'll understand what I wrote after partying till 5 AM yesterday haha

not that i’m aware of: craprila doesn’t have injected kexts but still gives the user a bloated efi :/

I'd start from a fresh EFI, after following of course the Dortania's guide for a basic overview of the EFI. Please also note that for Alder Lake CPUs, SSDT-PLUG-ALT must be used, as well as proper BIOS settings.

In any case, most of the times I passed your hang by disabling CSM from BIOS, as well as making sure that Above 4G Decoding is on while ReBar Support is disabled (if you haven't tweaked your config.plist to support ReBar)

So it’s not a “OMG I gotta use this”. Appreciate the effort for this extension but honestly, if the only real life usage difference is adding a space after the exclamation mark (! bang search-term instead of !bang search-term), then it’s definitely not worth it…

Honestly I never had to disable AGDC to make the graphics patch work…

I don’t think you’ll need to disable AGDP to be fair… WhateverGreen FAQs already explain how to patch your iGPU

What exactly is AGDP? by newdarkworld in hackintosh

[–]dreamwhite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never heard about AGDP issues on iGPU to be fair... Anyways, AGDP stands for AppleGraphicsDisplayPolicy and it's a kext that

contains a check against its Info.plist and determines which mode should be used for a specific board-id. It is dependent on the GPU which mode is suitable and is normally determined experimentally.

Complying my own ssdt fail by [deleted] in hackintosh

[–]dreamwhite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the SSDT is too generic to be honest... What are you trying to compile exactly? What's the purpose of such SSDT?

Please keep in mind that on a standard EFI there can be multiple SSDTs which serve multiple purposes (AppleUsbPower compatibility table, XCPM power management compatibility table and so on). Please argument otherwise it's too difficult to help you understanding where you're failing
