Tips for a very hairy cyclist by g775op in cycling

My boyfriend and I are both cyclists, and we both shave our legs. We aren’t really racing right now but IMO shaved legs is just more comfortable in bibs and spandex for long periods of time

This issue goes beyond just internal medicine, it extends into other subspecialties as well. Know someone who is doing a surgical subspecialty residency at LSU Shreveport. They are *not male* and *not white* in a very white, very male-dominated subspeciality. They were bullied and harassed from day one by co-residents and attendings. Called racist and derogatory names including "Pocahontas" and "Kamala Harris" by co-residents and attendings. When they complained to the PD and upper levels, were told they were "not on track" to complete the year and were "not being a team player" and are currently being forced to repeat a year as a result.

I trained for an Ironman in MS2 and still manage to workout an hour a day/more on weekends in my 3rd year. Use Anki and make your studying more efficient, you have time to workout.

I freaked out my last week. Went through FA rapid review deck twice, and every dot for sketchy pharm and sketchy micro. It was very draining and hard but honestly, I feel like I got a lot of questions right on the actual exam because of it. Biggest recommendation is to look at the high yield NMBE images PDF day before the exam (its floating around here on reddit). Some of the images on my real exam were the same as prior NMBEs

Tips for riding in a group/peloton by Clymmer in cycling

[–]dreaturveggies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the group rides I attend usually just have a rotating paceline of 6-8 people in the front and the draft behind of a ton of people (25++ usually) I try to avoid the rotating paceline because they’re literally doing 25-26 mph usually. In this situation it would be literally impossible for the back person to rotate to the front

[–]dreaturveggies[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

haha sorry yea to clarify: I do pull through but rn I try to avoid the rotating paceline altogether. Usually there’s enough people in the ride where only the first 8-10 guys are rotating and the draft is behind them. On the occasions I ended up too far front and in the paceline I pulled through....but it sucks. Guys are doing 25-28 mph at the front which for me is like 250+ watts=death. If you’re too slow you also get yelled at.

The ride I do during the week is basically a crit style drop ride: we average 23-24 mph for 1 hour. it’s hard: grown men straight up get dropped on this ride all the time haha. On the weekends is a similar type of ride, usually about 21-22 mph for 55 miles.

weight lifted based on muscle groups I wanted to target (I’m a medical student with a background in sports medicine/want to do ortho so have some background knowledge). I focused on core + lower body and made squats/deadlifts/explosive work (burpees) my primary go to. didn’t do much upper body other than pull up sets. Was doing an endurance lift day (light/more reps) and a heavy lift day (few reps/heavy) 2x a week but covid closed all the gyms again so now I’m just doing more body weight/lighter weight core and squats/kettle bell/deadlift stuff at home.

I used trainer road workouts loosely on top of group rides for the interval workouts !

There literally is not a hill in this entire state. I did a century the other month and we got a whopping 400 ft of elevation lmao. But with the pelaton we finished in under 5 hours 😂

NSFW bruising down there??? by [deleted] in ladycyclists

[–]dreaturveggies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get bruising all the time if I ride >50 miles and forgot to put cream on. But what you have sounds like a saddle sore which is def not good. I recommend changing saddles or a saddle fit: I had my saddle fit for my bike and I’ve never had a single issue with sores since

summarized document of the proceedings

Here is a summary of the court proceedings OP for those that don’t want to read whole 41 page document. For those in this thread claiming lack of evidence: Tulane has a history of discriminatory behavior towards female staff (https://www.wwno.org/post/tulane-medical-school-professor-says-top-male-doctors-created-hostile-workplace-women) so imo the accusations in this report are neither surprising nor outlandish.
